Lammycat
They already have thirteen pitchers, and only three reserve position players, plus they need another lefthanded bat, with Nixon and Varitek (et al) hurt...Exactly. Plus, Hinske can help give some needed rest to both Mike Lowell and Kevin Youkilis. This could be a good move if Theo is thinking Lowell might not last the entire season and/or dumping Lowell next season.

parisisstale
Yanks let Johnson off the hook in the first.
c53x12
They opened with three straight base hits, one run in, 2 on, nobody out, and then Johnson retired the next three. Soon as this damn conference call is over I'm headed for the nearest bar. Edited August 18, 2006 by redshift
parisisstale
Yankees need this first one. It's the only pitching matchup of the five where they had the definite advantage.

bjorn_skurj
Those schoolgirl daysOf telling tales and biting nails are goneBut in my mindI know they will still live on and on But how do you thank someonewho has taken you from crayons to perfumeIt isn't easy but I'll tryIf you wanted the sky I would write across the skyin letters that would soar a thousand feet highTo Sir with love. The time has comefor closing books and long last looks must endAnd as I leaveI know that I am leaving my best friendA friend who taught me right from wrongand weak from strongThat's a lot to learn. What, what can I give you in returnIf you wanted the moon I would try to make a startbut I would rather you let me give my heartTo Sir with love. Those awkward years have hurried by, why did they fly away? Why is it Sir, children grow up to be people some day? What takes the place of climbing trees and dirty knees in the world outside? What is there for you I could buy?If you wanted the world I'd surround it with a wall,I'd scrawl these words with letters ten feet tall,"TO SIR WTIH LOVE"

cryptique
So, apparently Strawberry's not currently in prison. I'm not sure Doc Gooden's in that picture, though (hard to tell).
cryptique
So, apparently Strawberry's not currently in prison. I'm not sure Doc Gooden's in that picture, though (hard to tell).OK, answered my own question: Strawberry and World Series MVP Ray Knight homered in New York's 8-5 victory over Boston in Game 7. Knight' date=' manager Davey Johnson and pitcher Dwight Gooden were among the notable absences from the reunion. Johnson is managing the U.S. national team in an Olympic qualifying tournament that starts Friday in Havana and the Mets said Knight had a prior commitment. Gooden is in a Florida prison for violating his probation by using cocaine.[/quote'](clicky)
