Yeah, that X. Original line-up too. John Doe, Exene, DJ Bonebrake and the one and only Billy Zoom.

They've been back together for a while, but only to play maybe a half dozen to a dozen shows a year on the west coast. This year they're finally branching out east a little bit on tour with Rollins Band. I'm seeing them on August 13th at the House of Blues in Chicago.

Rumor has it they're actually working on an album too.

I saw them live at the Fleadh festival many years ago. They were absolutely great live. They also stayed at the same hotel and we met them over breakfast the next morning. We were seated right next to John Doe and Exene. Very nice 'rock stars'. Enjoy the show.

GO!

I saw them once in the strangest place.

At Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, in a big tent,

set up behind the Yodeler Bar in the parking lot.

They rocked.

That was back in 1995 or 96.

I cant say for sure if it was the full original band.

John Doe & Exene for sure (duh).

They rocked!

Considering the elevation there is 9000 ft they gave one hell of a performance.

Big fan of More Fun In The New World, Under The Black Sun & Los Angeles. :rock

Not to forget The Knitters.

Good stuff!

Go!!!

Everybody. Go!!!!!

:rock

John Doe is awesome! He played at the cafe in the bookstore I was working at a couple of years ago (Johnny Hit & Run Pauline... acoustic!) and talked to two 14 year old boys until closing time. I think he even bought them coffee. Not a "rock star" at all...Have a great time!

I think the Rollins Band/X combo is a testament to a powerful time in rock history. I have seen both of these bands many times and can't say enough about how much fun you are in for. And if the Knitters tour make sure you see that too.....love Exene.Enjoy!

My sister went Saturday. Said it was a great show. She told me Exene and Rollins had been great friends for a long time, and that Exene and Viggo Mortensen had named their kid Henry after him, which I did not know.

Did Billy make eyes at you??? :ninja

Glad you had a great time!! :cheers

Not at me, but I did see him staring down some people in the audience...I'm assuming young ladies. If he weren't Billy Zoom, he'd probably creep a lot of people out. Man, that guy can play though.

i guess the move to Texas wasn't an isolated moment of non-clarity.

"The other reason I'm moving, if the creek don't rise, is that when I moved to California in 1976, Jerry Brown was governor. It was barefoot hippie girls, Hell's Angels on the Sunset Strip, East L.A. lowriders, the ocean and nature. It was this fabulous incredible place about freedom. Now when I think about California, I think of a liberal oppressive police state and regulations and taxes and fees. I'd rather go someplace and have my own little place out on the edge of town. I'm a country girl at heart. It makes me happy when I see people in Texas open-carrying. It makes me feel safe. I'm not even a gun owner, but I'd like to see a gun rack in every pickup truck, like my boyfriend had when I was fifteen years old in Florida. An armed society is a polite society."
