iarooster
According to the folks at the shelter, I should be set to adopt this cutie on Thursday: She was picked up as a stray and not claimed, so she doesn't have a name. They've been calling her Lassie since she's a sable collie, but that's too predictable for me. This is a pretty creative group, so I'm opening the floor for suggestions. Something with a Scot-Irish flavor would be nice but not necessary. It shouldn't sound like a standard command (i.e. Shay sounds too much like "stay"), and it shouldn't be too embarassing to yell if she gets loose (I'm not walking through the neighborhood yelling "Whoopie! Whoopie!") So... whadya think?

anodyne
laddie (if you're a simpsons fan). we got a greyhound and he's pretty lazy (as is typical of the breed). we named him "the dude" after jeff lebowski. maybe just call the dog after who he/she reminds you of. Finna
Fiona, Colleen, Maggie, Isabel, Haggis, Bagpipe Annie, Mary Queen of Scotch. I second Fiona. Can always call her Fifi. Or Caoimhe "kee + va" (meaning "gentle, beautiful, precious" in Irish) Keela "kee + la" "A beauty only poetry can capture" Muirne "mir + ne" "high-spirited, festive" Oonagh, Oona, Una "ou + na" "a lamb" Orlaith, Orlagh "or + la" "golden princess." Sorcha "sor + aka" or "surk + ha" "bright, radiant, light." I love Irish names :-) especially for canine children!!!
