jenbobblehead
desmond was acting weird in the hatch. you all notice that jack's ex looked preggers? don't know if this is impt., however, the actress herself may just be. i was wondering myself to whom kate was referring at the runway. great season ender. now don't we have to wait until like feb '08??? just finally saw this on TiVo, Jack's Ex is absolutely pregnant. he kept looking at her belly. everything has gone to shit, he's lost everything, he is dealing with guilt, survivor or otherwise, and popping the oxy is what keeps all those voices telling him he never should have left, at bay, perhaps? i just assumed that jack was so fucked up that he didn't remember that his dad was dead, but maybe the past did change, and Christian is still alive... The question killing me is who died? Whose funeral was that? Who could it be that Kate would sneer and say "why would i?" when asked if she went?
marino13
In the article about the man found, there was also the word "beam". Did he hang himself?
caliber66
Maybe it was Juliet who died? That's why Kate didn't want to go, and why Jack was bummed out?According to Analogue Man's handy screen shot site, you can tell that the article says "Man found .... ____antham of New York"Unless the island is capable of switching around chromosomes (or Juliet is really Julius), I'm pretty sure Juliet's not the one in the casket... TCP
Yeah, that last part was an edit, I found that out after. So, did anyone notice the neighborhood with the funeral home was specifically black?
SquashedFrog
"The body of John Lantham of New York was found shortly after 4 am in the 4300 block of Grand Avenue. Ted Worden, a doorman at the Tower Lofts complex, heard loud noises coming from the victim's loft. Concerned for tenants' safety, he entered the loft and found the body hanging from a beam in the living room. According to Jaime Ortiz, a police spokesman, the incident was deemed a suicide after medical tests. Latham (sic) is survived by one teenaged son. Memorial services will be held at the Hoffs-Drawlar Funeral Home tomorrow evening."
ction
Michael? With the teenage son being Walt?
burns3
From now on, all off island scenes will be flash forwards instead of flashbacks. Just a guess.
TCP
Or the show will switch to the "future" (aka our present) and flashbacks of the island!
SquashedFrog
Michael? With the teenage son being Walt? If it was Sawyer, wouldn't they have said he had a daughter? I thought he got that woman he conned pregnant.

jenbobblehead
hm. not john lantham but ....from another site i frequent: This is a complete shot in the dark, but since that seems to be what the show encourages us to do... There's yet another philosopher who fits the "J.... tham" name: Jeremy Bentham. Not only that, he's the guy behind the idea of the "Panopticon," which just might have a lot in common with the Island as we've come to know it. From the wikipedia: "The Panopticon is a type of prison building designed by English philosopher Jeremy Bentham in the late eighteenth century. The concept of the design is to allow an observer to observe (-opticon) all (pan-) prisoners without the prisoners being able to tell if they are being observed or not, thus conveying a "sentiment of an invisible omniscience." In his own words, Bentham described the Panopticon as "a new mode of obtaining power of mind over mind, in a quantity hitherto without example." Could Jack be mourning a character we don't know yet, a character who's ultimately responsible for the creation/maintenance/whatever of the island?

a.miller
Was Jack telling Kate that they had to go back, as in he and Kate? Or was it that everyone got off the island and everyone had to go back? Pretty interesting. It appears Locke knows more, some how.

tongue-tied
Apologies if this was mentioned before, but at overthinkingit.com, a writer is watching Lost from the beginning, never having seen it before, and overthinking it. It's a lot of fun so far. Early on her theories are eerily accurate in accounting for future developments, and even when they aren't, they make you think. Also, the episode recaps are hilarious. Episodes 1.0 to 1.7Episodes 1.8 to 1.15Episodes 1.16 to 1.22 Episodes 2.1 to 2.8Episodes 2.9 to 2.16Episodes 2.17 to 2.24 Episodes 3.1 to 3.
