SarahC
i saw of montreal a couple weeks back, and at first i was a little put off by the stage show, but then i got that "i was never young" song stuck in my head, so i downloaded the album off itunes, and i think it's great. what do you guys think? nettles
Don't know there music beyond the latest record, allways dismissed them as another retro band that I probably wouldn't be to into, but I really dig the new one, it makes a great saturday night dance party record, maybe my fav or the year thus far. solace
their new record (due at the end of January) just leaked yesterday...
Kalle
I really enjoy Of Montreal, lot's of fun.
Dr. Steve Brule
I got to see their pre lollapallooza show at Schubas and it was incredible. Sunlandic Twins is awesome, can't wait for the new one!
SarahC
yeah, i really liked the dancing and stuff. i was able to get the singer's autograph on the back of a flyer for my sister... she flipped out. it was awesome. he was wearing very cool eye shadow too. brianjeremy
I saw a few weeks ago too. Best concert I've seen all year. They were really great. I really like the new direction he's taken with the last 2 albums and the new stuff sounded great too.

street spirit
its a still more of which is good, if you ask me. they were a ton of fun when i saw them last week.
solace
yeah... it's a pretty fun record. i liked some of Sunlandic a lot, but Satanic Panic in the Attic is still my fave of theirs.
explodo
They are definitely fun live, but when I saw them, 90% of the audience was like eleven year old girls. It was very, very bizarre. Probably didn't help that Tilly and the Wall was opening.
SarahC
yeah, the crowd was def. younger at the show i saw, and they all rushed the stage to stand in the plaza area, which i've never seen happen at the place they were playing (it was an ourdoor music thing). it's funny because that concert thing is designed with more older people in mind, and some of the looks on thier faces during of montreal's set were hillarious. bböp
Probably didn't help that Tilly and the Wall was opening. Of Montreal played at Derek and Jamie's wedding! How awesome is that?
Silent Assassin
Of Montreal is very fun live. Check out some of their older stuff, it is rather different than their recent albums, but still great.
bigideas
Don't know there music beyond the latest record, allways dismissed them as another retro band that I probably wouldn't be to into, but I really dig the new one, it makes a great saturday night dance party record, maybe my fav or the year thus far. really only Sunlandic is disco influenced. the one before had drum machines but still more rock. their earlier stuff is really influenced by Smile-era Beach Boys/Sgt Pepper's-era Beatles. dennis
Of Montreal is very fun live. Check out some of their older stuff, it is rather different than their recent albums, but still great. the hissing fauna is a pretty great record, but so far i think my favorite is "the bedside drama". I prefer the older stuff, but I do love all of it. D
mpolak21
Gay Parade is my personal favorite of theirs, they've got an excellent back catalogue. While they aren't quite on the level of their Elephant 6 contemporaries Neutral Milk Hotel and The Olivia Tremor Control, they're a pretty good band. I am looking forward to hearing the new one. I might try to make the Cleveland date too. --Mike
brianjeremy
Asheville! I am so there. Seriously, they were so fun the last time. I hope that TBA will be Greenville. I honestly like their last album, Sunlandic Twins, the best. I can't wait to hear the new one. The early albums are great but he's really come into his own on the past few records. The Inside of Outside
I am all in on Of Montreal. I know I am late to the party. They are so much fun to listen to, and seeing them live for the first time this fall sealed the deal. They are a band I will travel a few hours to see now.
SarahC
Wow. This thread came back! I love them too. They're my sister's favorite band. Like her wilco.
remphish1
I saw Of Montreal open for Elliott Smith at Maxwells in 2003..they are an interesting band
