froggie
seeing the one on lidsay buckingham reminded me.. am i on the only don henley fan here?. i'm referring to his solo career after the eagles' split. there hve only been 4 albums between 1982 and 2000 but they're packing with catchy tunes that are done with an excellent voice. i think his voice got a lot better in the 80s once it lost the rasp of his eagles input. some tunes are over-produced, but hey - it was the 80s we all secretly love the boys summer (right?) but there are a lot of other classic tunes during his solo career. even bob dylan decided to cover End of the innocence in late 2002 during his shows (and pretty good job of it too). any other fans? Welsh Rich
I was brought up with Don Henley and The Eagles, my dad was a huge fan. I was a big fan on Inside Job, but I find some of the production just a little two slick sometimes so I can only listen to it when I'm in the right mood! End of Innocence and Boys Of Summer are classic tracks though!

froggie
How could I forget New York Minute... great track... the chorus line, then that little riff. his little riffs also add to the songs. Long way back is another that has a poignant riff after the chorus
c53x12
sunset stripSunset Grill? good song -- I like the synth solo at the end Herbie Hancock recorded an amazing instrumental cover of "New York Minute" on his album The New Standard.
Analogman
I think have to go with Mr. Nixon on this one: 1. Destroy All Lawyers (Mojo Nixon) 2. I Wanna Race Bigfoot Trucks (Mojo Nixon) 3. Ain't High Falutin' (Mojo Nixon) 4. Shane's Dentist (Mojo Nixon) 5. Rabies Baby (Mojo Nixon) 6. Put A Sex Mo-Sheen In The White House (Mojo Nixon) 7. Star Spangled Mojo (Trad. Arr. by Mojo Nixon) 8. You Can Dress 'Em Up (But You Can't Take 'Em Out) (Mojo Nixon) 9. Don Henley Must Die (Mojo Nixon) 10. Perry Mason Of Love (Mojo Nixon) 11. Took Out The Trash And Never Came Back (Mojo Nixon) 12. Gonna Be A New World (Mojo Nixon)
Vacant Horizon
well, i love the eagles. hotel california is one of those tunes i never tire of. there are several others as well. henley is great song writer. but his production is sooo bad. picked up inside job used a while back hoping he had some 21st century production. no go. sounds like it was produced in 1987. good songs just cheesy keyboards, back-up singers, drum machines ect. too bad his songs get missed in this chaos. i can handle the production on the hell freezes over originals so i am looking forward to a new eagles album. this will have a little adult contempo sheen tho. so if henley would just record with a regular band with timothy b. schmit on bass and back up vocals, then we would have a classic me thinks.c

Around here we refer to them as the Egos Next time you're contemplating buying a concert ticket that costs $100+ remember, the Egos started that shit.
Atticus
woops. thought this was a sarcastic thread. "lying eyes" is groovy, though. I could probably stomach some of Henley's solo stuff if the production didn't remind me of Richard Marx or post-70s Elton John.
Mr. Heartbreak
On the plus side: Boys of SummerNew York MinuteEnd of the Innocence On the minus side: Dirty Laundry - Come to think of it, I could have listed that one in the Best Torture Music thread ...
embiggen
Boys of Summer that's about it for me and Mr. Henley. boy that Lisa Marie Presley sure did a good job on 'Dirty Laundry' didn't she...
Atticus
On the plus side: New York Minute If it was good enough for Sorkin to name a West Wing episode after it ("Somebody's Going to Emergency, Somebody's Going to Jail"), then I guess I could live with it... NightOfJoy
I always associated Don Henley with what was wrong with America....you know, the crappy pop music and all. I may be wrong though.
