CortezTheKiller
The run of The Natural Bridge ---> American Water ---> Bright Flight ---> Tanglewood Numbers is amazing. I used to insist American Water was their best record, but, if I'm being honest, it's Bright Flight.

tinnitus photography
Funny, that technically, Pavement is a Silver Jews side project.did the SJs come first? 1st Pavement 7" was recorded in Jan '89. Silver Jews were an indie rock band from New York City, formed in 1989 by David Berman along with Pavement's Stephen Malkmus and Bob Nastanovich Though often labeled as a Pavement side project, Silver Jews were actually formed at roughly the same time as Pavement. love all things Joos. AW is still on the top of my rankings, CtK

tinnitus photography
good read... interesting that Tweedy did some production work that ultimately got scrapped. i'd also love to hear the sessions with Black Mountain as his band:https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/david-berman-was-the-cult-musician-who-went-away-for-10-years-what-made-him-finally-come-back/2019/06/03/19735620-77db-11e9-b7ae-390de4259661_story.html?fbclid=IwAR2W0PezQYtVOoVy7IgwCmdLcN2U2mHdUbV0tMk4-ROBuoYJx_BBRTo9nBU&utm_term=.af9a7f73b62c

Chez
Picked up Tanglewood Numbers and Bright Flight when they were released, but I just discovered (by virtue of reading this very thread) American Water about six weeks ago. RIP, David.
tinnitus photography
this is the hardest musician death for me since Jack Rose. just utterly devastating.
Madcap
He sounded so hopeful and borderline happy in all the press he was doing for the new album too. This just bums me out so damn much. I was so happy that he was back and now he’s gone forever.
brownie
Listening to the lyrics on Purple Mountains this morning, I mean REALLY listening... This album is a combination of a cry for help/suicide note set to upbeat music.
PopTodd
Only just discovered his music through PM, and that album really struck me.This is a gut punch.

Madcap
I know Jeff did some spec production work with him for the new album, would love to see him take on a Silver Jews or Purple Mountains song on Saturday in tribute.

GtrPlyr
This came as a complete shock and left me devastated. I love the new Purple Mountains record, but I couldn't bring myself to listen to it today. David was one of my favorite songwriters, so smart, witty, unique and inspiring. This one is going to take some time to get over.
