Synthesizer Patel
To help you out a little--Ys isn't her first album and technically it's not out yet. The street date for the disc isn't until Nov. 14. You think you dig Ys, you should check out The Milk-Eyed Mender. jdmel
I wish I could be more High Fidelity-esque with this list but here we go anyway:Guster (because theyre fun and exciting but not because they are partial sell-outs and i hate the dave fans who associate themselves with Guster), the Raconteurs (All that is rock right now besides Wilco), Jack Johnson (on hiatus though), John Mayer (Continuum is the leaning towards the making of a future blues God), Ben Folds, Ben Kweller, The White Stripes, the Old 97s & Rhett Miller (saw him live last april, amazing), Ben Gibbard & Death Cab (semi-guilty pleasure), Kings of Leon, the Jayhawks, Kanye West (cmon Chi-town), Matt Costa, The Shins, The New Pornographers, Matisyahu, Andrew Bird, Jenny Lewis & The Watson Twins, Bright Eyes, Mason Jennings, Sima Cunningham oh and dave matthews sucks... big dead moose balls

jimtweedy1977
I've been listening to them for a couple of months now but I want to definitely emphasize The Avett Brothers. If you get a chance to see them, do not miss the opportunity. Your throat will hurt from all the cheering and your face will hurt from all the smiling, but it's all worth it in the end. I would recommend Live Volume 2 (there is no volume one, just funny titling and somewhat reflective of their live sound) and Mignonette (studio album). Their latest EP, the Gleam is a quieter disc, but has some nice tunes, especially 'When I Drink'.
