oceanman
Patient With Me is a suprise,I always saw this song as more of a Golden Smog tune.I wonder if it will be a whole band version or more of the folky version that we heard,I think this song will suprise me more than any,I can't waite! Gobias Industries
my only qualms about this album are the song titles (what happened to Lullaby for Rafters and Beams? that was a flippin' great title, and some missing parentheticals that I liked [Maybe the Sun] for track 1, and the fact that Patient With Me has two words tacked on the front that just don't do it for me). i liked with AGIB how the title was imbedded in the tune. my first reaction was "wtf agib?" and then I heard Theologians and I thought it was genius. As to LNGCA, I figured it might not have made the album, just because (like Kicking Television), it simply is hard to do in the studio. There are songs that just are great live, then there are those kinds of songs that are great in the studio. LNGCA is definitely the former, but I am willing to be surprised (along with the title change it went through). It's possible that it's Hate It Here, it fits. I also have the feeling that the some of the song titles are very Tupelo-remniscent.

jakobnicholas
Wait, so the jocks are the ones saying it isn't edgy and experimental enough? What kind of high school did you go to?? Ha. Good point. It's my opinion that a few on this board have a tone of, "this music is lame...and if you like it you're a wussy boy"....much like many of the jocks in my high school. uncle wilco
Sitting at one table are the nerdy, sensitive types who play Dungeons and Dragons, are in the chess club, and think Sky Blue Sky is beautiful and heart-felt and exquisite.what? did it leak on FLAC already? 'cause i'm saving my judgment till i can pick it up at best buy for $9.99. those snobby dorks always get to hear new shit first. Ha. Good point. It's my opinion that a few on this board have a tone of, "this music is lame...and if you like it you're a wussy boy"....much like many of the jocks in my high school.where did you go? s.m. south? jocks at that school were the wussy boys back in the day. Jesusetc84
My dad listens to Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones. If you're older, your dad could have been all about Bo Diddly and Chuck Berry. I learned alot about rock from my dad and I turned him on to Wilco. In my world Sky Blue Sky might end up being Dad rock in the coolest way. My dad personally has gotten into a lot of stuff from me. It's just another name for... YACHT ROCK! Let's set sail...
You Can Be The Stone
If SBS is Dad rock, then Bring on the dad rock for all I care! Screw all the cheesy youth angst and piss-poor poetic non-sequiturs in Summerteeth.
Jesusetc84
I hope to hell this doesn't LEAK. I hope to hell I get a pony for Christmas.

Mister Alex
By the way, anyone surprised to see On and On and On make the cut? I think it's a really beautiful song, but they only played it a few times and the general opinon here was that it wasn't that stellar--not that what we say goes, but I'm a little surprised to see it on the record. I'm so very happy this song made the cut. I was one of the few supporters, and now, huzzah! Much beer shall be drank in celebration. Much beer would've been drunk anyway, since it's reading week, but now it's in celebration.
