YouAReMYface
Dude, I'm not saying I like Linkin Park. I'm not down with the whole distorted screaming chorus with soft clean tone verses. I think they are terrible. I'm just getting a point across that it sucks because they have way more fans and will definitely debut at #1. Just look at the numbers from Riaa.com Linkin Park -- Hybrid Theory -- 10 Million SoldLinkin Park -- Meteora -- 4 Million SoldI would love it if Wilco were to top them, but it aint happenin people. i didnt say you said u liked linkin park, i was just pointing out that its pathetic that linkin park probably will outsell SBS. I have to admit i used to listen to linkin park when hybrid theory came out, but i no longer listen to them and havent in a long time. Hopefully SBS is in the top 3. tongue-tied
if their trend continues, linkin park should be selling zero records this time around.
awatt
Who's Linkin Park?Just kidding. I know the noise they make... Who cares where Wilco debuts on Billboard? Not me.
Sweet Papa Crimbo
if wilco went 1 i would probably stop listening to them Not to beat a dead horse...but this may be the stupidest thing I have ever read on the internets...(well, at least something that wasn't posted by the infamous musicaner). cryptique
Reasoning? If i remember correctly YHF opened at #12 and AGIB was at #8. I don't really think they've lost any press as far as attention or am i in my own little world? Hopefully for their sake their on the upward slopeI'm surprised they ever debuted anywhere near the top 10, honestly. And if they crack it this time, I'll be surprised again. Who cares where Wilco debuts on Billboard? Not me.Exactly. It's not the CDs that make money for those guys ... it's the concert receipts.
yankhotelfox
Which day of the week do the billboard charts get updated? I know the album is released on a Tuesday. How long until we can get an answer to this shallow and pedantic question. I highly doubt Wilco will debut at #1. There are way too many other commercial bands out there. We should all buy 10 copies of SBS to ensure that it gets a low ranking in the charts.
kidsmoke
That Ian Hunter record should just kick all kinds of ass...... -robert. I just saw Ian Hunter about two weeks ago, opening in L.A. for the Zombies. He was terrific! The new songs sound very good. I did notice, though, when he sang "I Wish I was Your Mother", that I found myself wanting to hear Jeff's version instead. Got a handshake and an autograph after the show. That was cool. joshsirjoshules
Reasoning? If i remember correctly YHF opened at #12 and AGIB was at #8. I don't really think they've lost any press as far as attention or am i in my own little world? Hopefully for their sake their on the upward slope Yeah seriously, what's to stop them from topping the charts? Wilco deserves that kind of publicity. if wilco went 1 i would probably stop listening to them Well, you're just one dedicated fan, aren't you? Note the massive amounts of sarcasm dripping from that sentence. I'm sick of people who keep bands like Wilco secret when they are the kinds of bands that could be salvaging the music scene if they were given success. I hear so many complaints about pop music, but instead of helping the bands they like to get successful, people keep those bands to themselves, thus the pop scene continues to degenerate. I say when a band like Wilco comes along, TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW ABOUT THEM. With radio stations dominated by the same processed music being played every 5 minutes, would it really hurt to have bands like Wilco that have integrity to take over the airwaves? jff
All that matters in regard to whether or not they debut at #1 is how many people pre-order or buy the album the day (or week) of the release date. Linkin Park will probably always outsell Wilco, but do their fans buy their albums 1. right when it comes out, or 2. once they've heard it on the radio a few dozen times? I think the answer is 2. It's entirely possible SBS will debut at #1. I would imagine the percentage of Wilco fans who buy their stuff as soon as it is available is FAR higher than the percentage of Linkin Park fans who do the same. Having said that, a #1 debut would just raise the demand for concert tickets and fill the shows with non-fans who want to see the flavor of the month. No thanks.
