tongue-tied lightning
it's a hit with me great record, might be my fav cd so far this year
MattZ
I am loving it so far. I haven't listened to the lyrics all that carefully, but the album strikes me as a bit more political than I would have expected. Dont Make Me A Target and The Underdog especially. Then again, maybe I am projecting.

Embarcadero_Skies
Metal Detektor is my favorite spoon song of all time. I just thought you should all know that.
cryptique
Metal Detektor is my favorite spoon song of all time. I just thought you should all know that. Fine choice. Not sure what my own favorite is, but it's probably from that album, and might be that song.
MattZ
For some reason, I always bust out laughing on the 4th (?) track when they say "bet". Its so funny, awkward, cool, lame, etc. I still like this album. Seems to me like a good mesh of Kill the Moonlight and Gimme Fiction.
trevor
i really dig this album more and more with each listen. standout tracks for me are cherry bomb and the underdog. also a really big fan of finer feelings, but that weird bit about 2/3 of the way thru the song just kills the momentum everytime i listen to it. wish they'd cut that bit out. bigideas
even though no one answered my question i'll still be nice... you need to head pronto to Merge and preorder the album....the mailorder e-mail has been fast responding too if you want to make sure there is still some left before ordering. Welsh Rich
Just going to bring this thread back to the top as it's out next week... What a great album this is, it's really clicked with me. Short, sharp and focused... the production is outstanding and seems to have distilled everything that's great about spoon into 10 songs. Shame my promo copy didn't come in a nice package... wonder if the Merge pre-order is still working...
Scalzunfield
I am totally in love with this album. Without looking too much into every album in music history, I get the feeling that "Black Like Me" may be the best closing track ever. Really, the only thing keeping it from being a perfect album in my mind is "The Ghost Of You Lingers" and "Eddie's Raga." I like them both, but am not really sold on 'em. The fact that it's only the 10 songs and has that "get in, get out" feel to it leaves me begging for just one more song at the end. And hey Spoon fans...Mark your calendar (Tivo, whatever) for next Wednesday night (July 11th). They're on Letterman.
Welsh Rich
Yeah, my feelings exactly. It's so concise and focused... love it. Well, being a minor European, shipping for the Spoon pre-order is actually more than the CD itself... so forget that!
MattZ
"Black Like Me" may be the best closing track ever. I don't know about best ever, but I absolutely adore this track and I agree that it is the perfect closer to the album. And I love the Beatle-esque backing yeahs and oh yeahhs in the last half of the song.
bigideas
got my preorder today. 13.50 no shipping charge got me: -the album in nice glossy digipak with bonus disc (i think all the first pressings will have this)-gagaga button-Merge sticker-pretty large gagaga poster-band signed 7" with Underdog demo and non-album track with super long title apparently Britt signs his name, "BD." i haven't heard the record yet, but i did see the Underdog video yesterday and it was great. Serak_the_Preparer
Got mine on Friday as well. Listened to it all weekend and it is still in my car. I love the album. I hated The Ghost of You Lingers for a long time, but it has grown on me. I saw that Circut City is advertising the album for $8.99 on Tuesday and Best Buy has it for $9.99. I highly suggest everyone pick up a copy at those prices - you really can't go wrong.
scribex6
Target has it listed for 7.98 plus promise the bonus disc which Best Buy and Circuit City don't mention.
MattZ
This album sounds amazing on vinyl.
