The former frontman for Creed is out of jail this morning after he was charged with throwing a glass bottle of Orangina at his wife during an argument Sunday morning.

Scott Stapp, 33, was released on his own recognizance.

The charge against him was downgraded from a felony of aggravated assault to a misdemeanor of simple battery.

According to the arrest report, Stapp returned home from a night of partying at 8 a.m. and started stumbling around the kitchen.

Stapp became angry when his 26-year-old wife, Jaclyn Stapp, started questioning whether he was using drugs.

He then threw the bottle within inches of her face, but it shattered on the floor of their suburban Boca Raton home, the report stated.

Stapp admitted to throwing the bottle, but said that his wife was not near it at the time, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Stapp married former Miss New York Jaclyn Nesheiwat 15 months ago at the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami.

Creed sold more than 30 million records in the United States before it broke up in 2004.

The band is best known for its 2000 Grammy-winning song "With Arms Wide Open." Stapp has since launched a solo singing career.

Once ridiculed by other rock performers because of his open embrace of Christianity, Stapp admitted to a history of addiction in a Rolling Stone magazine interview.

He previously made headlines in a series of strange events.

About 24 hours after his wedding, he was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport for public intoxication.

In 2005, Stapp allegedly got into a brawl with members of the rock band 311 at a Baltimore hotel. Stapp said the band, and not he, was responsible for the fight.

In 2003, Creed fans filed suit against the band after a concert in Chicago. They alleged Stapp was too intoxicated to perform and cheated them out of their tickets. The suit was dismissed.

In my opinion, only a person with serious mental problems would smile for his mugshot. Anyone remember Tom DeLay's?

:lol Wasn't Stapp a page for Delay in the 'good ol days'?

The funniest part of this news story is that his own fans sued him... that's rough

Took them long enough to find a collective brain though.

He has the rare ability to make every song sound the same.

I think that's the Nickleback gene.
