It's going to be amazing when both Cal and Oregon (my team...who killed Stanford at their place...) KILL USC. Oregon and Cal are easily the two best teams in the Pac-10, and top 10 teams overall (although I will admit that Cal has a SLIGHT edge over us. I still think we should've won last week though...)

I'd take USC over either, still. So much talent on that team. They are gonna be scary good next year and beyond.

Heh. Your arrogance about USC is a little annoying and I'm not even a college FB fan.

It's true. I'm just glad it was stanford, since they are my second favorite football team.

Untrue.

They may well be the best two teams in that conference, but not "easily."

I really, really, really wanted Florida to hang on last night. It's time for some new blood at the top of the rankings.

Who Ohio State? They polluted the polls all last season. Seeing them at the top would disgust me. I was actually glad to see LSU hold on.

Well, you must be the other half of the nation that hates OSU. Based on the playing this week, if LSU lost, OSU would have been the only team that would have deserved that spot (moreso if they shut out Purdue, but that's a moot point...we had a third string or something by then, so whatever). And plus the OSU team is "new blood" - we're a very young team as it is at the moment. Plus, Cal and USF would have rounded out the top 3, and USF is "new blood" if anything is.

3rd string at OSU is 1st string at most schools. Plus do you think OSU actually plays by the same recruiting rules that most schools do? It's just something that mid level school fans have grown to live with. You can't be top 10 year after year and expect that your team actually plays by the same rules.

I hope Hawaii and Cincinnati end up being the only undefeated teams.

Hypothetically, if this happened, I think the BCS would leave one, if not both of them out. They would take a one loss USC/LSU/OSU over those schools.

I'm rooting hard for the BCS to not work. I'm a playoff pusher. I love how every week matters, but I think if you had an 8 team playoff, every week would still matter and be just as intense. I even did a research project on this for a public speaking class. I could go on forever on why a 8 or 12 team playoff would be so much better, more exciting, more climactic and make more sense...

What is everyone's views on this? Would you rather see some sort of playoff system? Keep the BCS?

I vote yes on playoffs, but maybe just a 4 team one. I think the top 4 teams usually all have good reason to claim they are championship material, plus with just 4 teams you could keep the championship series within the major 4 bowls, which would piss off less people.

The OSU defense is playing this season like they've got a chip on their shoulder the shape of the state of Florida. That's good to see.

But I still haven't fully forgiven them for pulling the most colossal no-show in history on Jan 8, so its going to take some more time before I fully believe in this year's model. I like the fact that this year's team is led by the D, which is better suited to the ways of the Sweatervest, so they've got that going for them. Still, with the cupcake schedule so far, its hard to know what we've actually got. With the way the rest of the Big Ten is playing, we may not find out until the bowl game.

I think it's safe to say that my Gamecocks are the real USC this year.

(j/k)

SEC-E is the real deal this year, though. Five top 25 teams this week.

I think you got a real chance to take the SEC-East this year if you can run the tables. Unfortunately, after Sat. embarrassing loss to Tenn., we're pretty much out of it now. :ohwell

Hey! Looks like you've changed your name. That UT loss was definitely brutal. I was pulling for you guys, though. Can't stand fat Phil.
