Underrated wilco song of the day

Recommended Posts

I love this song. Along with Should've Been In Love, two of Wilco's best slow tempo songs ever...

A.M. as a whole seems to be underrated.

since the recent AM surge in the setlists i pulled the album out again last night and this tune struck me... what do you all think of it?

the guitar licks are beautiful

only played live once in 1995 as well

I'm a fan of this one. When Jeff sings "I don't think you even understaaaaand" it gets me every time for some reason.

I've always been a fan of how after the line "I've run out of metaphors" there is a big gap where the lyrics would otherwise be.

Its gimmicky, but it works. :thumbup

Is that the bit where the banjo burbles away like a steadily trickling stream (or something), and ends with Coomer crashing around the cymbals before they go back into the chorus? A mate of mine has been including I Thought I Held You on various compilations for years solely on the basis of this part.
