LouisvilleGreg
I think the Sox just averted Cleveland's last gasp.

boywiththorninside
This can't be good for Steinbrenner's already failing health. The sons should really tell him Cleveland won. Congrats to the Sox and their many fans on here. I hate to admit, but you've got a good team. I hope we now get a good World Series.
Lammycat
Eagerly anticipating what Papelbon will treat us to. What an awesome series to watch. Can't believe the Sox will be out here in Denver next week in the WS. Amazing.

Mystik Spiral
Go Rockies. Sweep the Sox. Actually, we really do need to sweep. i'm seeing Menomena on Sunday, scheduled game 4 of the WS, and Kevin Drew on 11/1, scheduled game 7. Damn these conflictions of live music and baseball, my two greatest passions...
tugmoose
Well, that ends my postseason. For the record, I was 0-3 laying out the sports cover of the Plain Dealer (game 3 against the Yanks, games 5 and 7 against the Sox). I knew they were doomed when they lost Saturday. Westbrook was living on the edge all night; the luck ran out after they pulled him. Sizemore, CC and Pronk were huge disappointments, Carmona less so. Garko gave 'er a ride in the eighth, almost tied it up. Outscored 30-5 in three closeout games? Unforgiveable.
quarter23cd
Yeah, I don't think I'd want to be laying out the sports section in the Plain Dealer. It really does take a special kind of person to be a sports fan in Cleveland. I'm not even really a Tribe fan--only hitched my wagon to them a couple weeks ago--but that flameout over the last 3 games was just painful to watch. For all the good times and optimism when they went up 3-1, as soon as they were unable to put away game 5 you just knew the ending was inevitable.
jenbobblehead
Well, i didn't think it it was inevitable. The indians were ON FIRE those first three games. I was expecting them to come back at any minute, and when Westbrook heated up in the middle of the game, i got all panicky.

Agreed, we New England fans have learned over the years...it's not over until it's REALLY OVER! I was still holding my breath through MOST of the 8th inning...because ANYTHING is possible I am impressed with the Indians and I look forward to seeing the Rockies. I'm pretty sure I've NEVER seen them play a game...ever Also, I have to tell you...I woke my 11 yr old daughter up to tell her who won and she replies "It's no big deal, we've done it before"...lol Yup, twice in her lifetime and four times in mine. I told her when she gets a little older, I'll explain the "big deal" to her
caliber66
Sizemore, CC and Pronk were huge disappointmentsSeriously, I was actually hoping Hafner's last couple at bats that he would at least put it in play...

jenbobblehead
i think sweeps make series very boring. I was ready for more baseball after we swept the Cardinals in 2004, so i hope the rockies don't sweep the sox so that we can have seven nights of hi impact, nail biting, crazy anxiety baseball to carry us thru to April.
