tongue-tied
It's called music not poetry. Who cares if the Fool on the Hill lyric sucks. The melody+ production is ace. This is a thread about the worst Beatles song, not melody or instrumental.
mountain bed
I've never warmed up to "Your Mother Should Know". Or "P.S., I Love You".
Jesusetc84
This is a thread about the worst Beatles song, not melody or instrumental. Funny, I didn't know a song was only the lyrics. I thought the song was the whole thing.
Littlebear
No use to mention "Revolution 9" since it's not even a song. Don't Pass Me By. I think everybody can write a song like that. And also that not everybody would dare to. I also think The Fool on the Hill is a great melody.
bobbob1313
Don't Pass Me By. I think everybody can write a song like that. And also that not everybody would dare to. How dare you.
LouieB
Revolution 9. What a fucking buzz kill. It's probably one of the few songs on I'll ever skip. No use to mention "Revolution 9" since it's not even a song. You beat me to it....it is a sound collage, which at the time WAS pretty revolutionary.... LouieB

Lammycat
YesterdayIsn't this just all Paul, anyway (in terms of Beatles contibuting)? I realize it's considered a "Beatles" tune a la "Moonlight Mile" w/ the Stones, but I think it's just Paul on piano (with some strings towrds the end)and song-writing credits. uncle wilco
"octopuses garden" , "yellow submarine" or "don't pass me by." pretty much anything sung by ringo i can't stand.
Sir Stewart
I never skip "Revolution #9" - and I've been known to listen to it twice in a row on some occasions. I love it. My vote would go to "Lady Madonna"
Analogman
Unlike most people here, I am not a Paul McCartney worshiper.
OOO
Unlike most people here, I am not a Paul McCartney worshiper. Paul is in third place in that other thread! He's not THAT popular. He just has some rather vocal (SirStewart, Bobbob, and myself) supporters
Lammycat
If the other poll is any indiction, Paul would be below George and John in terms of popularity (at least in solo career terms). Third on a list of four is kinda low.
Sir Stewart
In the Anthology, Paul talks about how G. Martin wanted to release it as a Paul McCartney single, but Paul says he ixnayed that.
Analogman
But - I really should not single him out - when it comes to The Beatles - as a friend of mine use to say - it took all of them together to create the magic.
ction
"Ballad of John and Yoko"
Sir Stewart
NP - Revolution #9 You're all crazy.
tongue-tied
Funny, I didn't know a song was only the lyrics. I thought the song was the whole thing. Jesus, I meant the whole thing. Since I thought that line was the worst part of it, I pointed it out. Lyrics are important. I have a friend who cannot stand the twangy guitar in "Ballad of John and Yoko", he'll demand it be skipped or leave the room.
Guest Left Arm Tan
i've always been annoyed by "got to get you into my life" but like a few others have pointed out, it's not a bad song. really aren't any bad beatles song.
uncle wilco
i've always been annoyed by "got to get you into my life" i always thought that sounded like a paul mccartney and wings song. it didn't fit the beatle mold to me.

Nowhereman65
Ob-la-di Ob-la-da. Definitely my least favorite, and I adore the rest of the album. I also really like revolution #

a.miller
i've always been annoyed by "got to get you into my life"My understanding is that song was written about smoking the pot. If that is indeed true, I find it makes that song much more interesting.
