david
the frames - the cost What do you think, a bit of a let down for me. Wish they could translate their live show to the studio.
Mystik Spiral
Is that a good place to start with them? I'd recommend: 1) The Sunset Tree2) We Shall All Be Healed3) Get Lonely And that's all the MG material I have currently.
Planetchad
I'd recommend: 1) The Sunset Tree2) We Shall All Be Healed3) Get Lonely And that's all the MG material I have currently. After Sunset Tree (and before the other two) you should get: TallahasseeAll Hail West Texas If you are still interested from there, get the other two and then go backwards. Wish they could translate their live show to the studio. i like it actually. i've tried to get into them for years. i had the live disc a few years ago & liked a few songs then forgot about. then (this is lame i know) i saw/heard once & fell in love w/ glenn. Planetchad
Hey, Chad, good to "see" ya!  thanks for the info. Hey Bridget! I'm still around, but I don't post much these days. I got into the Mountain Goats seriously about two years ago, and then went out and bought all of their available cds (about 15). Sunset Tree, Tallahassee, and AHWT are my favorite (along with Sweden). Get Lonely has some great songs, but I have to be in the right mood to listen to the whole thing. I love that I've been able to see them 4 times in the last year because John Darnielle lives in Durham, NC. They also have a lot of shows at archive.org.  Oh, and I'm listening to PJ Harvey's White Chalk. I'm still not sure what I think of this.
