quarter23cd
i am from ohio which has given us jason molina, joe walsh, and mark kozelek. not to mention my hometown dayton gave us GBV and the breeders...and of course, the ohio players. not a fan, but hung out with them at the dayton airport once.cThe OH list gets better if you toss in: New Bomb TurksAfghan WhigsThe Black Keys ...and do not forget:Pere UbuDevo Admittedly, however, it is frequently slim pickins out there on any given night in OH. I grew up in Virginia, however, so we mostly just get to talk about the righteousness of 1995 DMB.

poppydawn
Favorite band from my town: Uncle TupeloFrom my state: Wilco I'm glad I didn't have to answer this question nine months ago, when I still lived in Missouri. I guess the obvious one there would be Chuck Berry. I loved The Rainmakers from Kansas City back in the day. And, of course, The Bottlerockets. They all pale in comparison to the true musical genius that came from Missouri. I give you ... The Ozark Mountain Daredevils!
Oil Can Boyd
I was scrolling down to rip you about excluding Dino Jr.Yeah, I was thinking Boston rather than Massachusetts, and I don't really think of Dino Jr as a Boston band.

poppydawn
One obscure but fantastic (defunct) band was The Fletcher Pratt. We're also home to people like the Verve Pipe, Sponge, and the Von Bondies. Soledad Brothers! Detroit Cobras! Bantam Rooster! The Dirtbombs! Whirlwind Heat! (I dig dirty Detroit garage punk.) CortezTheKiller
Yeah, I was thinking Boston rather than Massachusetts, and I don't really think of Dino Jr as a Boston band. They're not really a Boston band as they're from Amherst, MA. But we are talking home states here.

MrRain422
Soledad Brothers! Detroit Cobras! Bantam Rooster! The Dirtbombs! Whirlwind Heat! (I dig dirty Detroit garage punk.) The Soledad Brothers are from Ohio actually. Though they pretty much came up through the Detroit scene. I'm going to see the Dirtbombs and Lee Marvin Computer Arm tonight. Should be just like old times except in Chicago instead of at the Magic Stick.
