ction
Btw, it would be pretty awesome if they got Christopher Walken to play cowbell on "Walken".
cryptique
I'm struck by how the (semi-)anonymity of the internet affects situations like this. 1. It emboldens people who otherwise would have been left whining to their girlfriends and the few others unfortunate enough to be within earshot to enter a forum like this and not just complain about a rescheduled show, but to slag off the band itself and go on rants about how they're screwing over their fans. 2. It prevents me from laughing in all of those people's faces at how ridiculous they're being. Seriously, if we were all in a bar, and some of you were going on like you are in this thread, I wouldn't be able to control my laughter. There are people in the world with real problems. Stop being such spoiled brats.

Stop being such spoiled brats.1) I haven't slagged off Wilco at all. Criticizing a scheduling decision is very appropriate. I have not ranted about screwed fans.2) If there were an actual Wilco fan bar in Tampa, I'd be there saying the same things. This is the next best thing. I have also discussed it face to face with real people. Disappointment of any kind is a "real problem". The magnitudes only differ. I could say to you that needing to reply to those upset is laughable and not a "real problem". Pot kettle black, sir or madam.
Lammycat
Lets just hope the band reads these posts and know what a F*** up decision they made.....C'mon. Either shit or get off the pot, man.

indy81
I feel for the folks who were going to the Charleston gig, but some people are holding the band to an impossible standard of integrity. There's not a serious band in the country who wouldn't jump at a chance for such a high-profile TV appearance, if all it meant was *rescheduling* (not canceling) a single show. When you buy a ticket, it's with the understanding that a band or promoter can cancel or reschedule a concert at any time, as long as they offer refunds. I've been to shows that were canceled a couple of hours before showtime - with a note on the door of the venue. It's unlikely to happen, but it's one of those things that is always a possibility. groovingdan
I think this is Wilco's fault. And not in the way you may think. If Wilco treated their fans slighter worse, you know, decided to not put YHF out on the internet, didn't give us bonus tracks to download with about every release, didn't stream a bunch of their shows on their site, didn't have a very fan-friendly taping and trading policy, and didn't play well over 30 songs at most gigs, then there wouldn't be this mess. The expectations that Wilco have built (because of being about the most fan-friendly band in the world) have made their fans into selfish brats. Seriously, these crazy Wilco fans expect everything to be perfect for them. Now of course it sucks to have your plans change, and I can understand being a bit upset, but chill out a bit. Lean on their history and realized that there is a bigger picture than just you.
Dr. Steve Brule
I think that quote you referred to about Wilco being part of the fabric of people's lives was made in reference to 9/11. I see the postponement of one show as not really being as big a deal as that. Sorry.
mfwahl
They need to cancel more shows. This is too much fun.
