calvino
Just bought a ticket for tonight's Judas Priest/Deep Purple show. Finally took advantage of those 'day of show price dropped tickets'. It was pretty crazy how the prices kept dropping through out the day. Got a $99 (plus fees) ticket for $22 - with fees it came to about $29. They are great seats too - about 25 rows back, center. For $29, I can handle the World Music Theater/Hollywood Casino for a night. I need to dig out a black shirt.... I grabbed the lasted Priest record from the library again last week - it is pretty good. Still wish I would have seen KK or Glenn play, but so be it...
Analogman
I believe Glen is playing on the encore. Or he was earlier in the tour. Don't forget your earplugs.
calvino
Had the below book on hold forever and it finally came into my local library today. Looks like the book goes up to 07.
calvino
I believe Glen is playing on the encore. Or he was earlier in the tour. Don't forget your earplugs. They showed Glen up on the screens during one of the songs tonight ---- it was a bit weird, they were showing Glen up on the screens performing a solo, while Faulkner was actually performing the actual solo. Great night of music, though - I thought Deep Purple put on a better show and sounded better - Steve Morse flat out rocks and Glover and Paice are solid. Space Truckin was the highlight. They should have played Smoke on the Water, then Space Truckin' -- Smoke seemed a bit off tonight, Airey seemed a bit off during the tune.
chuckrh
this isn't precisely metal but close enough. the new alice in chains record is real, real good. i gave it a listen & am going to buy.
Analogman
I don't know about now - but I always considered Alice in Chains a metal band. I have never been much of a Judas Priest fan beyond the first two albums.
calvino
Yeah same here with Judas Priest --- actually I was never a huge fan of British Steel or the records that came after. I always enjoyed You Gotta Another Thing Coming - which was fun to hear. I am a sucker for Turbo Lover, too. They played that, too.
calvino
I believe Glen is playing on the encore. Or he was earlier in the tour. Don't forget your earplugs. Looks like Glen did play with them for a few songs a couple of nights ago in Canada.
Analogman
That must be weird. The same with Alan White in Yes. You hang around for the whole show and then come out at the end.
NoJ
Man, I missed the Judas Priest/Deep Purple show. JP was THE band me and my bros were into back in the early 80s. Turbo Lover was the last tour I saw then the Grateful Dead came into my world and that was that. Saw DP twice in 86. I still say that was the most successful reunion I ever saw. The record and those shows were great.
Analogman
Perfect Strangers is a great album for the time. I have never heard the other ones after that.
calvino
They played Perfect Strangers and Knocking at your Back Door, last month in Tinley. Must admit, I don't I have ever listened the the whole record before.
Analogman
I have the tape - which has an extra song on it. What's really strange is that concert film from that time or the next tour. Ritchie is not on stage for the opening number.
NoJ
Hanging out with a buddy over the weekend, looking thru his albums and came across Black Sabbath's "Born Again". Lots of people detest this album, but I always liked it primarily because Ian Gillan is singing and the album cover is so over the top bad that its actually pretty cool. Anyhow, my buddy hates this album so now it graces the top shelf in my living room.
Analogman
We were way into that album back in 1983. Now - I think the only song I would listen to is Born Again.
NoJ
Trashed and Disturbing the Priest are good tracks too. Maybe Zero the Hero if the lyrics weren't so stupid.

Analogman
The stories around the making of that album are pretty funny.
NoJ
Trashed and Disturbing the Priest are based on actual events. Didn't Ward sink Gillans houseboat in retaliation for Gillan blowing up Wards brand new car?
Analogman
Ian was also sleeping in a tent in the yard. And kept his golf clubs in a tent next to it. I believe they also blew that up. That's probably the last Sabbath album I ever heard - besides Seventh Star and the Dio reunion albums. I've read about the following but never heard them: The Eternal Idol (1987)Headless Cross (1989)Tyr (1990)Dehumanizer (1992)Cross Purposes (1994)Forbidden (1995)13 (2013)

Analogman
Oh - I have those Dio albums. I still think the first one (Heaven and Hell) is the best though.
