mpolak21
Could we merge this thread with the other blasphemy thread? --Mike
Vacant Horizon
what a great thread. this is gonna be so cathartic. -jim james is kind of fruity and really ruins his music with goofy lyrics and vocalizing-monsters of folk suck-every buzz band from this decade suck (except wilco)-even though i've tried so hard many times, i cannot get into springsteen, dylan, or tom waits.-i used to love the grateful dead. they were all i listened to. i can't stomach it any more.-bill frisell gives me a stomach ache-orchestras and choirs have no place in rock-Phish have lost their soul-REM blows-U2 is way over-rated-i don't like early beatles and think sgt pepper's is way too cute-Yes Album, Fragile, Close to the Edge are incredible albums-David Gilmour was the heart of floyd...not Waters-Ryan Adams ruins is his songs with his voice-there is nothing worse than when artists can't hack rock and go traditional-i am so glad the jamband scene is dying-i pretty much cant stand the fact that to be good at one's instrument and voice is not credible these days-jay farrar has lost his muse-i did not like jason isbell in the truckers-the 60s were way over-rated i'm gonna come back to this thread for all my reactionary thoughts from now on

PopTodd
Gene Clark was the best songwriter The Byrds ever had, not Roger McGwinn; not even Gram Parsons. (and, speaking of The Byrds):David Crosby has been the weak link in more great bands than anyone in rock history.
Calexico
Gene Clark was the best songwriter The Byrds ever had, Preach it, Brother! True dat! The old re-runs of the Whistle Test are streets better than any old shite on Jools Holland's show nowadays.
Mr. Heartbreak
Well, this certainly brings up some unpleasant memories. If only you could all have seen the way we kissed and made up via PM. A year and a half later, I still have no use whatsoever for The Roots, Beastie Boys, or Grandmaster Flash, but that's all I'll say about the genre I despise ... Synthesizer Patel
The old re-runs of the Whistle Test are streets better than any old shite on Jools Holland's show nowadays. that's just obvious. i think this is because the cameramen are old bbc tech men in white jackets - so there is no spastic-zoom-edit-zoom imagery; and also all the bands had to play on really really low volumes (like 1 on the amp kind of low) - cos the sound engineers couldn't cope with anything louder - thus the effect was really focused quality music.
Calexico
that's just obvious. Nice one, make me look a complete idiot there. Care to emasculate me further or shall I just get my coat?
MattZ
-the 60s were way over-rated Can I hear some more about this one?
tinnitus photography
Highway Star proves that whoever wrote Deep Purple's lyrics has an IQ below 80. John Fogerty was treated worse than any other major white musician. Either that or he's just really oversensitive. I've tried and just can't get into Television. Big Star, what's the Big deal. Eddie Vedder is the worst singer in the history of rock music. He wouldn't be worthy to clean Kurt's grungy toenails. Crosby, Stills, and Nash destroyed the hippie dream. (well, maybe) Little Feat and The Band, no matter how many cult followers, will always be underappreciated. Nick Drake had more ability in his little finger than 99.9999% of all musicians who will ever roam the earth. Vinyl will outlast CD. this post is gold

Not a fan of the rap the kids play these days? I hate the generic use of some shitty rap track across opening montages and the like that now permeates every mainstream tv show. Rusty Shackleford
I'm trying really hard to like Bruce Springsteen. I guess if I had to choose between these two artists and only listen to one of them as my only music ever, ever again, I would choose Bruce. Me, too, but talk about a rock and a hard place. I don't get the big deal about Springsteen. I know I should like his stuff, but I just don't get it.
remphish1
I don't get Guided by Voices...I even seen them twice in concert (both festivals) and bought Bee Thousand and I think they are very overrated. Also NMH is too! Jeff Magnums voice grates me.... Also Toad the Wet Sprocket (Band name is dumb though) is freaking genius...and underrated! Brilliant songwritting... Bread and Circus their first album came out when Glen Phillips was 17! Pale and Fear are very solid and Coil was magnificient too! They still get heavy rotation in my collection. You know what I hate and and am sick to death of? TV ads that consist of quick cuts of a bunch a different fuckin business people in different fuckin settings walking and talking to the camera and they're all creaming over some connected bullshit that changed theiur fucking stupid lives and at the end they always all have to say "like me "like me "likeme' or "and me!" and! me!" and me" some dfunjb shit AHARGGH and they'e yusualy in black and White too fuck I hate those fucking ads and they're everyinwhree!~!! I watch CSI:Miami from time to time...yeah, I know....anyway, I always record it so I can fast forward thru the generic rap track playing across a scene of, usually, bikini clad AMW's dancing at some party with the ORANGE sky of Miami behind them. I cannot bear that sort of drip fed tv shot.
Sir Stewart
I was worried it might've seemed like I was mockin' you up there. But I was genuinely pissed off. Your post just reminded me of those ads.

cryptique
David Crosby has been the weak link in more great bands than anyone in rock history. Crosby's my favorite out of CSN. I can't stand Nash. And the dude can sing. He still sounds as good today as he did 40+ years ago.
Calexico
I wouldn't go so far as to say I hate Nash but he sure lucked out and won the lottery when he hooked up with Crosby and Stills.
people are leaving
Not liking The Beatles is like not liking air. I wish Bud Powell was a household name. "The Sound" and his idol "Prez" had the best tone of any of the tenor sax gods. The only thing that sucks more than cancer is Radiohead. "Mrs.Miller's Greatest Hits" gives me great joy. 'Crash' is the worst "best movie" selection of all-time I hate Sheryl Crow. I wish more people knew the real story. See Kevin Gilbert related artists Robert Pollard is truly a great songwriter, non-sensical lyrics and all. Colin Moulding should've gone solo years ago. I'd like to thank Kurt Cobain for putting rock n roll back in the mainstream, but I would also like to give him shit for turning the 90's into a decade of bad songs and cookie monster vocalists. Clapton is way overrated. (That said, I did see him in the 70's wearing a black t-shirt that said, "No Snow, No show" Jimmy Page's production was always better than the songs. Ripoff's or not. Jeff Beck was by far, the most innovative and best of the three Yardbird's guitar players. People say they hear from God because they know their ideas aren't reasonable and need a trump card. hardwood floor
I don't get Guided by Voices...I even seen them twice in concert (both festivals) and bought Bee Thousand and I think they are very overrated. how dare you! on my thread!! bee thousand might be the best record ever made! -Yes Album, Fragile, Close to the Edge are incredible albums truer words have never been spoken
Sir Stewart
Colin Moulding should've gone solo years ago. Agreed. Then we wouldn't have had to put up with his tunes on the Apple Venus albums.
Shakey
Jeff Tweedy is so much better solo than he is with Wilco. Dump the band. For starters, I have two friends that play better guitar than Eric Clapton Technically Glenn Kotche is a decent drummer, but he'd be better served in USC's marching band. Flip a coin: Foo Fighters or Hansen. Los Lobos is American's greatest all-time band. The Stones were the world's greatest all-time band. I was pissed I went to a My Morning Jacket concert and forgot my pillow. Vampire Weekend may have released the greatest debut album in the history of Rock. Tommy Stinson's last solo record is better than Paul Westerberg's last solo record.
