Party @ the Moontower
If I were a big bad maverick or barracuda, I'd take on the press and talk to them. Obama even went on O'Reilly, the man as far right as you can get.
Party @ the Moontower
"lipstick on a pig" That's just too much. McCain has used this term time and again, and now he is crying because Obama used it????http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/09/10/...in4433795.shtml Tonight Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., said of McCain painting himself as a change agent, "You know, you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig." ... "You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called 'change,'" Obama continued, "it's still gonna stink after eight years. We've had enough of the same old thing! It's time to bring about real change to Washington. And that's the choice you've got in this election."
Duck-Billed Catechist
Until the news media turn both tougher and fairer, provides contextual truth and not just balance, political operatives will hold the upper hand. And the public will move through election cycles like motorists peering into a thick fog.http://www.csmonitor.com/2008/0910/p09s01-coop.html

Barack wasn't even talking about her, but because of her "lipstick" comment at the RNC, the McCain campaign is turning his statement into a personal insult.

Yeah, O needs to get over his fear of the angry black man syndrome & take on their BS ASAP or else. Meghan McCain: 'No one knows what war is like other than my family. Period.' "Overwhelmed" 1. So-called family values2. War - leadership in times of war3. Religious beliefs Yeah, only her family knows... HEY, where's the Biden action figure? No fair.
Doug C
Sadly, neither by birth nor marriage am I a McCain. Therefore I need assistance. What is this "war" concept of which you speak?

John Smith
Yep only the McCain family knows war. My dad didnn't know squat about it when his unit liberated Nordhausen. His brother in thhe 8th airforce knew squat about it, neither did their parents worrying about them. My Uncle didn't know squat about it when he sufferred a severe head wound iN Korea that left him like Admiral Stockdale for the next 50 years. And my brother didn't know squat about war when they put him on a PBR in Vietnam in 1968/69. My friend here at work and her daughter didn't know either when they heard her husband was killed in Iraq in 2003. Whhat a condescending little prick she must be to be so smug in her attitudes. Sir Stewart
She misspoke. Do people really think she feels that her family understands war and nobody else does? Man, the things people jump on. There's nothing quite as stupid as a presidential election.

But wait, she cleared it up on her blog. That's not what she was trying to say... Sorry to hear about your friend @ work. Just what does happen to a family when one dies in Iraq? Are they taken care of? Can you get life insurance if your go in the military? I've always wondered this.
Sir Stewart
My comment wasn't directed at John Smith specifically - she's getting it all from over for this (of course).

It's a pretty stupid thing to say ever, but we seem to be in a war right now with soliders dying. I'm sure many people are offended and annoyed. I didn't see her take it back until the next day. I'm sure many people are offended and annoyed. I didn't see her take it back until the next day.she probably meant "No one knows what war is like more than my family." just as obama probably was not calling palin a pig. you can't attack one of these statements and defend the other. i mean, clearly you can, as we see, but you wouldn't be being intellectually honest. What? Obama used an old political term in the correct context that even McCain uses??? Yeah, they are the same thing Kwall. Oh, and I did not bring the topic up or make a big deal of it. Jump on someone else please. You are on ignore for 10 minutes.
kwall
What? Obama used an old political term in the correct context that even McCain uses???agreed. i don't have a problem with what he said. Yeah, they are the same thing Kwall.i didn't mean to say they were the same thing. i meant to say that they're both being misrepresented by their respective opponents. Oh, and I did not bring the topic up or make a big deal of it. Jump on someone else please.i was merely putting in my two cents. this doesn't constitute "jumping" on you. John Smith
Amazing. That's not a giant leap to a conclusion or anything. You seem to have a lot of hate built up. It's unhealthy. It's a general election coming up, people say things that get jumped on everyday. Her dad has been in politics, part of the old guard entrenched in Washington for 30 long years now. Her family should know about what to say and what not to say and how to say it. Imagine if Biden made that same comment or even Biden''s Son who is on his way to Iraq? Imagine what would have unfolded had one of them made the same comments? I am sick and tired of the right claiming the moral high ground with the military. They don't have that moral high ground, they never have, they only lay claim to it for appearances sake. Wow. But wait, she cleared it up on her blog. That's not what she was trying to say... Sorry to hear about your friend @ work. Just what does happen to a family when one dies in Iraq? Are they taken care of? Can you get life insurance if your go in the military? I've always wondered this. He had the military insurance and there was a fund set up for the daughter. I don't think it is a huge amount, but they get social security survivors benefits for the child and the mom is re-married so they are fine financially. The community rallied, but as with all tragedy it the effect fades, especially as more and more die. I believe soldiers can get life insurance through a third party carrier, but he was not the type to do that. I can't imagine what the premiums would be for that policy. Sir Stewart
Really? I can't legitimately like Joe Leiberman without being called a contrarian anymore? Fuck, this place is really obnoxious.I just can't believe you on that one, so I came to that conclusion. Lieberman is the worst that Washington has to offer.

Ok, your off ignore. Obama and his camp said nothing of Meghan's remarks. McCain called for a silly apology from Obama on a comment he has used, and that is in no way sexist. I like your 2 cents, I was kidding.
