myboyblue
One thing that frightens me a bit is the parallels that she has with GWB. Remember pre-9/11 when GWB was a bumbling dickhead? It wasn't until post-9/11 that he became a dangerous, bumbling dickhead setting the country back 50 years and devaluing the dollar by spending money like a drunken sailor. M. (hristine
I have not watched any television coverage of Palin. I listen to NPR and read. I expected the debate last night to be a train wreck based on those sources. Don't act like a jerk, Jules. I want the Democrats to win this election, and I see it is not going to be as easily done as my insular resources have led me to believe.

MattZ
of course I'm of the belief that the Roe V. Wade decision is quite safe from overturn regardless of whom get's elected. Based on what? The court's track record of respect for legal precedent?
Guest Jules
I guess I haven't spent enough time in here lately to be hardened to the extreme sarcasm of his post.Which one? The fear mongering one? Or, the yellow dog republican one? I wasn't being sarcastic with either of them.

bjorn_skurj
Can we quit the friggin fear mongering? The world will not end if Sarah Palin becomes VP. Jesus.I don't know, man. I am not given to apocalyptic thinking, but the financial meltdown has done it for me. It seems clear to me that Republican thinking on both foreign affairs and the economy is now starting to threaten the long-term (and medium- and short-term) prospects of the people of the United States of America. Palin may be a nice lady (though her apparent vindictiveness towards her enemies and sister's ex-husband in Alaska tend to belie that assumption) but she just doesn't have the brains to be president, so she shouldn't be vice president. Guest Jules
Fear mongering. I'm not fear mongering. I was using humor to make a point.I know. I wasn't referring to you or Carlos. I was referring to much of the other dialogue here re: Palin. Fear mongering was probably not the right choice of words, as I suppose it implies intent.
quarter23cd
I have not watched any television coverage of Palin. I listen to NPR and read. I expected the debate last night to be a train wreck based on those sources. The lack of follow-up questions helped her considerably.
MattZ
Fear mongering? Jeez, come on. Folks can't have it both ways. If everyone in this thread is so entrenched in their beliefs that an "open discussion" about the issues can't be had, then there is no fear "mongering" going on. It's a bunch of Dems commiserating. Big difference.
