I think that is a totally separate issue. Putting aside the fact that I don't believe that he is truly religious for a second.... religion has no place in government. That is what people took issue with. I can give a rat's fuck what religion a President is or isn't. Talking about having conversations with God and being pointed in the right direction is what I have seen people take issue with as it pertains to religion and GWB.

I think whatever spins your moral compass is relevant.

Got back from lunch. So it seems pretty 100% Obama here or at least the McCain people are afraid to speak up. I guess if your are a fan of Wilco, it is very likely you fit the Obama campaign.

I gotta another question. Any people here normally Republican is jumping over to vote Obama?

Assuming it wasn't a repeat of Gore/Bush and that come election day Obama just got beat, what would there be to protest? I really don't follow the logic.

If he "just got beat" many people, including myself to some extent, would simply not believe it.

Anyone else going to see Obama in KC tomorrow?

Duh, I am. So is Sal (en route from the state that ignited the whole shithouse) And my parents, lifelong Republicans, 'cept for the brief Ross Perot thing, my sis the hippy church goer, and maybe my bro the bible thumper who used to say Bush was God's right hand man. He has since seen the light, or the dark should I say?

Beat me to it. I would like an answer to this.

We are, as may have been mentioned, in the worst economic situation since the great depression (this could make it, by comparison, the "not-so-great depression. I would say anyone who says, "now we're really in trouble," is exercising either hyperbole or delusion.

I assume from this post you give Bush and his fellow Republicans 100% of the blame for the current crisis. I believe he deserves a fair amount of criticism, maybe even more than half. There is a lot of reason to place much the blame on Democrats as well. Quite frankly, most of the blame goes to Wall Street and to Main Street, not either end of Pennsylvania Ave.

My main point is that I know many liberals who played the role of Chicken Little in 2000 and 2004. I would agree that the Bush presidency has been a big bust, but don't act surprised when conservatives have the same view of a potential Obama presidency.

I don't like Palin, so I might. I can't see voting for McCain at this point. I may just abstain on the Presidential ballot when I vote. I respect Obama quite a bit, he's just sooooo liberal for me.

Obama would have to lose by a shit-ton for there not to be accusations of election-stealing. Should he just lose, a lot of people would get ornery and suspicious and it might develop into car-flipping, fires, stuff like that.

But to the same extent that Bush's has been seen as shiat? Time will tell. Lowest approval rating ever. The bar is low.

Not to oversimplify, but the first action of this Republican administration in the wake of the financial crisis is to act -- by their very own definition -- very much like democrats.

Unfettered markets void of any oversight and regulation is the primary reason we're where we're at. In so many ways, in so many areas of industry, economy, infrastructure, environment, our place in the world, defense, security (despite the bullhorns), we are so much worse off that eight years ago. It seems eight years ago Chicken Little was spot on. Continuing to behave like an ostrich with his head stuck in the ground is not the best continued approach for another four years.
