AM is SOOOO underated on here. I can listen to it over and over. Hardly listened to Summerteeth at all.

I agree with your sentiment about AM........Those who have followed Wilco from the beginning probably agree......That album got me hooked.......I also think Being There and SBS are right up there too......I think it is a generational thing.......I prefer the twangy Wilco over the noise of the albums in the middle of their catalog......

me too. i like the songs on YHF and AGIB, but there's something about their production that doesnt grab me
I think their overall production quality has improved with each album with the exception of ST. That one just sounds weird to me. I am referring only to the mix and way the instruments sound. The arrangements on YHF and AGiB are FAR superior to anything else in their catalog to me... and I'm NOT a fan of the noise.

...opinions... assholes....

For what it's worth, I totally agree with your preference, but am a relative newcomer to Wilco / alt-country. (Didn't really latch on until YHF, then learned that my favorite Wilco songs lay further back.)

Shoot man, I was raised on crap like .38 special, Gordon Lightfoot and Bad Company. My parents should be jailed for child abuse based on their record collection alone, but don't fear! Good musical taste apparently skips a generation. The opening banjo lines on New Madrid and What's the World Got in Store are among my favorite single music parts in the Wilco catalogue.

I live at peace with both AM and Summerteeth, but I too, would have to say I prefer AM.

what else is not good?

You mean like opinions that are stated as if they're facts?

There are songs on both albums that I skip, but overall I've been enjoying AM more lately. It was the last Wilco album I really got into; in fact, I hated it the first few times I heard it. I often find myself wondering how different the album would've been had they taken more time writing and recording it. I think it's a pretty impressive first album considering how quickly it was put together.

I like that we can have twangy Wilco and poppy Wilco and noisy Wilco. It keeps things interesting, especially with how much they've dug into the back catalogue this year.

Sorry, do I have to put up a huge warning before I say anything I think?

WARNING THIS IS MY OPINION PLEASE DO NOT BE OFFENDED. ALSO PLEASE OBSERVE THAT EVERYTHING I POST THAT ISN'T EXPLICITLY STATED AS OPINION IS BELIEVED BY ME TO BE UNALTERABLE FACT.

I wouldn't want you guys to react with hurt feelings and insults as though our conflicting statements can't co-exist.

(Twang is corny and stale.)

If I was to try and decide which Wilco record to turn a friend on to I would probably suggest to my beer drinking friends AM, and to my my potheaded friends I would say try Summerteeth.
