ih8music
I'd very much like to see them. With the Replacements opening. That would be the perfect way for the Replacements to reunite. On tour with a much bigger band, where 95% of the audience couldn't care less about them. Only way better would be to reunite for one show at some obscure kiddie movie's premiere event, where no one in the crowd was a fan of the band or realized the significance of what was happening. oh wait... Analogman
Faces Reunion Website There have been other re-unions, of course: The Faces reformed for the encore of Rod Stewart's Wembley Stadium concert in 1986. Ronnie Lane was on stage to sing in his wheelchair, but was unable to play bass; Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones filled in for him. The same lineup reunited once more (minus Lane) in 1993 when Rod Stewart was awarded the Lifetime Achievement award at the Brit Awards. Ronnie Lane made his final concert appearance in 1992 at a Ronnie Wood show with Ian McLagan on keyboards; Lane died in 1997. During 2004 and early 2005 the surviving Faces had several near-reunions, none of which featured more than three members at the same time: In May 2004 Kenney Jones and Ronnie Wood joined Ian McLagan on stage at his concert at The Mean Fiddler in London. In August 2004 Wood and McLagan joined Stewart at the Hollywood Bowl; Wood also appeared at several other of Stewart's 2004 gigs, including New York's Madison Square Garden, the Royal Albert Hall and a street performance in London for an audience of 80,000.[citation needed] In March 2005 McLagan joined Ronnie Wood's band at a London show, which also featured Kenney Jones on drums for the final encore; and in December 2005 Wood joined Ian McLagan & the Bump Band for three numbers at a concert in Houston, Texas. Analogman
Message from Mac: The rehearsals were a lot of fun, everybody was in fine form, and things are looking good for a gig or two next year, but these things take time to work out and I'm justgoing to wait until there's something solid toreport, so I'm not getting excited just yet.............I'm holding my breath And: The Red Hot Chili Peppers, meanwhile, are taking a hiatus from touring after the release of their latest album, Stadium Arcadium, though bass player Flea is planning on joining Rod Stewart and Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood for a reunion of '70s band Faces. Analogman
Stewart, Flea Refute Faces Reunion Reports January 22, 2009 01:58 PM ETJonathan Cohen, N.Y. Despite reports that the Faces are reuniting for an album as well as a tour with Flea on bass, Rod Stewart's spokesperson tells Billboard "there are no plans for a Faces reunion tour this year." Additionally, a spokesperson for Flea tells Billboard the artist "knows nothing" of a Faces tour. Guitarist Ron Wood reportedly told the U.K.'s Daily Mirror that he and Rod Stewart wrote an album's worth of new material during a Christmas vacation, and that Flea would be participating in an upcoming tour. However, the online version of the piece has since disappeared from the Daily Mirror Web site. Rumors have swirled since last fall that Stewart, Wood, Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones were planning to tour for the first time since splitting in 1975. The musicians reportedly rehearsed last year with Stewart touring bassist Conrad Korsch filling the role of the late Ronnie Laine. But a recent report in the New York Post suggested the members didn't get along during the process and that a tour seemed unlikely. McLagan is already booked for a spring North American tour in support of his new album, "Never Say Never," due March 3 from 00:02:59 Records. There have been a handful of near-Faces reunions since the band broke up, including at a 1986 Stewart concert at London's Wembley Stadium. The surviving members have performed together in various incomplete incarnations in recent years, including Wood and McLagan with Stewart at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in 2004. Analogman
Faces Reunion Plans Still Awaiting Rod's NodRod Stewart may still reunite with The Faces this year. March 02, 2009 11:06 AM ETGary Graff, Detroit A Faces reunion may still be in the offing this year -- but probably not a full-scale tour or recording project. Keyboardist Ian McLagan tells Billboard.com that the latest idea, proffered by guitarist Ron Wood at a lunch in London with McLagan and drummer Kenney Jones, is "we do a couple shows and film it. Whether Rod (Stewart) wants to do that...I'm hoping he'll be into that 'cause it'll be such a lot of fun. It's what the three of us would like Rod to agree to." The Faces, with Stewart's touring bassist, got together during November in London to play for three days in various configurations. McLagan -- who's currently touring to promote his latest solo album, "Never Say Never," which comes out March 3 -- says the sessions were "really, really great." The following month word leaked that the group would indeed tour, with the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea on bass, and that there would also be a new Faces album -- the first since 1973's "Ooh La La." In January both Flea and Stewart denied there would be a Faces tour. McLagan says that Wood is currently in Los Angeles and plans to talk to Stewart about the latest idea. "I'll get a call eventually, and maybe we'll do something in June or July," McLagan says, " 'cause I don't want to do anything next year. I'm not gonna wait again. It's either gonna be this year...It's now or never! I've got my fingers crossed, but I'm not going to waste energy trying to make it happen. I've worked for 30 years trying to make it happen. It's now in the lap of the gods -- or the hands of Rod, maybe." The keyboardist adds that despite other press reports, Wood is "in great shape...and good spirits" and is not currently drinking. "He slips but he stops. He's finding his grace, and it's a struggle," McLagan says. "He's trying really hard." While he waits for word on the Faces' plans, McLagan plans a full year of touring with his Bump Band for "Never Say Never" -- which is dedicated to his late wife, Kim, who died in a 2006 auto accident, and features some songs inspired by the tragedy. "Music is the healer -- I know it as an absolute, stone cold fact," McLagan says. "I wouldn't be here today without the music and my band members, my musician friends. They kept me going. I'm doing much better. I'm fine now. But the tough times, I couldn't have done it on my own."
Ghost of Electricity
Don't you think Rod has long passed the point of no return on the rock and roll credibility scale long ago?
Moss
Don't you think Rod has long passed the point of no return on the rock and roll credibility scale long ago? I don't think so, although I'm not big on credibility. I would go see the faces in a second. Edit: Wow I right bad sometimes. I meant "Nope".

Analogman
If you go by what Mac says, then he can still do it. Rod is probably my favorite singer of all time, but I don't own any of his solo albums past Smiler.

Analogman
We'll see. If Mac says it's alright, there must be something there. We also have to remember that those dudes are all in their mid 60s. A bit of trivia - I bought Smiler the same night I saw Wilco for the first time. The album is actually not that great.

Analogman
Indeed. It is the best album he ever made or will make, for that matter.
Analogman
Somewhat of an update from Mac: Macspages The Faces rehearsals in November 2008 were a lot of fun. There has been no recording, so there's no album, there's no tour planned, and I'm still waiting for thefour re-mastered albums to be released. I'm so happy I could cry I expect The Stones will be be doing something within the next year or two. So that would leave Ron Wood out.
jff
If Rod's American Idol performance is any indication, he is definitely not in any shape to pull off a Faces concert. Or even a single Faces song.
Analogman
I didn't see it, but he did play with Jeff Beck a while back. From what I have read, it was good.
