c.lo
ANY solo/acoustic by Tweedy agreed!my favorite is IATTBYH from the opening credits of the movie - it's so honest without the noise.

cryptique
1st answer is the correct one.Never understood the fuss over that song. I love Richard Thompson ... but that's nowhere near one of my favorites of his.
Moss
I think somebody mentioned Fishing Blues by Taj Mahal. That's a great one. Anything by Mississippi John Hurt as well.

It's my favorite Wilco song, love the YHF version too, of course.I just really like it toned down & simple too. It's so great to have it both ways!

TheMaker
Dylan's Seven Curses, Mr. Tambourine Man, It's Alright, and probably a bunch more. Also, consider this another vote for 1952 Vincent Black Lightning, one of the best songs ever written. Lotsa yus are cheating. Virtually any song can be performed live with just an acoustic guitar... Virtually any song can be performed live with just an acoustic guitar...And virtually any song can suck too. It takes some talent to perform a song solo with a guitar.......and do it well. Littlebear
Each time a song comes to my mind and think it'd fit, I observe there's a bass line here, a harp part there, or a vocal overdub... Keep searchin'... Good call about Marissa Nadler above... I would have chosen "Silvia":
