Can someone please repeat what Jeff said about Lounge Ax.My favorite place to catch a show ,when it was open...boo...hoo

He basically said that Sue worked there and was the owner and he used to go down there and see her a lot. On one occasion he was walking down and wanted some pie and therefore wrote Pecan Pie. He joked about how people have probably been trying to find a deeper meaning in that song but it really is just about wanting some pie. Funny little moment.

I was wondering the same thing about that guitar. He"s been playing it for years, but not for sure on the make/model. I was thinking it was a Martin 0 slotted headstock model, but not sure. He does play Breedlove, and two of the guitars on the stage were Breedloves. The one he used for the Wilco Song is his own signature model and the other 00 model, the second smallest besides the one he favored both nights, is a Breedlove as well. There was a Martin Dreadnaught (sp?) 12 string that he didn't play and a Gibson Sunburst Dreadnaught as well...but that one...not sure. I'd like to know as well. It's tiny, but sounds fantastic.

The one really really small Martin is one of his pre-war ones thats worth a bajillion dollars. He has the two Breedloves, Martin 12 string for Heavy Metal Drummer mainly, and the J-45 with the pictures of Spencer on it. At least thats what he had when I saw him last month.

Sorry to be a wet blanket, folks, but I have to repeat our oft-stated rule that videos of live Wilco/Tweedy shows are not to be posted on Via Chicago. As the band has always said, they do not allow or condone the videotaping of shows, and if people do so, it could result in the banning of all taping and cameras from shows in the future. Please respect the policy.

Thanks,

The Management :thumbup

This was my first time seeing Jeff solo, and I felt spoiled rotten. We were in the center of the front row of the balcony, which was the perfect spot, aside from the waitress who spilled a glass of merlot and some of it landed on my scarf.

It's really hard for me to pick a favorite from the night, since he played a lot of songs I was hoping to hear, especially New Madrid. Fake Plastic Trees was even more beautifully haunting than I expected it to be, and I loved Be Not So Fearful. That drunk stupid guy really needed to have his mouth duct taped shut, but I guess it's a good thing that we did get I Wanna Be Your Dog because of him.

that's interesting. i always assumed it was a straight forward song but wondered if it was about smoking grass, since a few people i've met along the way have referred to getting high as having some "pecan pie". good to know.

i wish i could have caught I Wanna Be Your Dog. jesus, i wish he played that Friday too.

Alright all, point taken. The Video's are off YouTube.

Never was it my intention to rip anyone off. Just wanted to share.

Sorry Jeff.

Hey, no worries, bcart12! We know you were well intentioned here. :)

OK. Back to the show review!

I particularly loved Blasting Fonda. :wub

I've downloaded more Wilco music from links on this site than any average fan should be able to........It just seems contradictory to allow the music without the images but add a moving image to it and that makes it illegal......I'm not angling to have the music links removed, just stating my opinion that the music people are splitting hairs over this issue.....The times are a changing when it comes to technology.......The music people were behind the times with Napster and they now are behind the curve with You Tube......It is never going to stop(video) and it only broadens the bands appeal and exposure.....If Jeff put out a DVD of the very concert being discussed I would purchase it because I saw it here or on You Tube.....Just my two cents......By not posting it, does not unrecord it.......The genie is already out of the bottle.....

It's pretty standard for all bands to not allow videotaping, let alone, posting them online. I have always figured it was due to people selling them and/or the money Youtube makes from ads that the band does not receive, due to the fact they did not authorize the video to be put on Youtube. Or something like that. Youtube is starting to crack down - the other day, I ran across some clips of The Band where the audio had been disabled "due to copyright violations". Youtube is going to start a pay for video download service - so I figure they are looking to get rid of even more "violations" now. As I said, we are lucky that Wilco allows AUD sound taping and the posting of torrents. A lot of bands don't allow online trading, or taping in general.

Um...I don't think it's quite that literal. He did jokingly say that we were all probably trying to figure out the hidden meaning of that song, but nope--it's about what we all suspect it's about. (Well, unless you think it's about an actual piece of pecan pie.)

I slept with a pecan pie once and I can tell you it's not all that great.

Night 1 > Night 2.

"Blasting Fonda" and I Wanna Be Your Dog" were both incredible. The evening just flowed really nicely.

I met a bunch of really lovely Wilco fans that night, too. The left (stage right?) section just above the VIPs was full of awesome people! Y'all rock. :)

This is true, but having videos all over Youtube can also serve as free marketing for a band, which in Wilco's case could result in some new fans as there is still a sizable number of people who still haven't heard of them. Just like with the YHF mp3 leaks and other situations where files were traded illegally, I'm sure the added exposure balances off any lost revenue due to broadcasting lower quality live videos of songs.

I suppose it must really be out of their hands. It must have something to do with the record company. I wonder. It seems hard to believe that someone would pay money for a AUD shot homemade dvd these days.
