KramkonG
Tom Petty's website posted a note that there would be a major announcement this week. I assume it's going to be a summer tour, and I for one, am excited. I have had nothing but great experiences seeing TP in concert, because A) he always has great openers (Steve Winwood, Pearl Jam) he has an extensive catalog and C) great stage/light show. Does anyone else share this feeling? Or not...?
alison the wilca
ive never seen him and ive been waiting for an announcement of a tour so i could finally go... i hope it is true!
Analogman
Did anyone buy the live boxset? It seems odd that they would tour without a new album coming out. I believe they were suppose to be working on one after Tom's last solo album/the Mudcrutch album and tour. It must be that they are going to tour, or that they are doing farewell shows of some sort. hardwood floor
always great live talk about great openers ... i saw them once with the Replacements opening ... maybe 1989-1990-ish
remphish1
I saw Dylan open one time and Trey another...not too shabby! I also got to meet Tom Petty and Mike Campbell once! I am a big fan and can't wait if it is a tour! Great show!
cryptique
Maybe they're announcing that Stan Lynch ran out of cash and is re-joining the band, so they'll be touring with the original '70s lineup.

SteveMck
always great live talk about great openers ... i saw them once with the Replacements opening ... maybe 1989-1990-ish I saw that tour, unfortunately, the Replacements got kicked off the tour prior to the show I saw in Chapel Hill and the Georgia Satellites opened instead. rockinrob
they have been recording so im assuming it is an album tour deal. I cant remember where I saw this, but I definitely did. It was on a forum somewhere and it was one of the engineers or the producer if I remember correctly. It was the heartbreakers.

Analogman
I figured they would not tour without a new album coming out. Take a listen to “Good Enough” from Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers’ forthcoming new album, Mojo.
tinnitus photography
aside from Joe Cocker, pretty good opening slots. hopefully i will cover one of the Boston shows.
Analogman
The album will be released this spring and will be sent in full to every fan who purchases a ticket online to Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers’ Summer 2010 Tour. I suppose there are not too many bands that can go eight years between albums these days.

solace
I suppose there are not too many bands that can go eight years between albums these days. Highway Companion was released in 2006... i realize that was billed as a Tom Petty solo record, but still
KramkonG
Not to thrilled about ZZ Top opening in Milw. It would have been a great night with MMJ opening! Oh well...
Analogman
Highway Companion was released in 2006... i realize that was billed as a Tom Petty solo record, but still I was thinking of that also, but eight is the number they are using in the press release: We are excited to announce that Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers will mount an extensive tour of North America this summer and also release their first studio album in eight years, Mojo, this spring. Also, the Mudcrutch album (Benmont Tench and Mike Campbell were on that album of course).
jff
I'd be all over Petty w/ ZZ Top. I like Joe Cocker and CSN. Can CSN still deliver live? How about Cocker?
Analogman
I'd be all over Petty w/ ZZ Top. I like Joe Cocker and CSN. Can CSN still deliver live? How about Cocker? I've never seen him, but he tours regularly, so I figure he has the chops. I believe CSN is coming out with one of those dreadful cover albums, so I suppose they will be promoting that. solace
I was thinking of that also, but eight is the number they are using in the press release: Also, the Mudcrutch album (Benmont Tench and Mike Campbell were on that album of course). right, i got that press release too and quickly laughed it off as someone being really bad at reading Wikipedia as much as i like the Truckers, i would love to see Joe Cocker live once
Analogman
I guess he does count his solo albums as separate. Maybe it is due to the fact that Mike Campbell was the only member of the band to play on Highway Companion.
CortezTheKiller
Some pretty impressive opening acts on this tour. I'd love to see Petty with DBT, but it appears I'll be doing one of the dates with MMJ in Boston.
