do you have Monday off? that may help.

btw, i think this is the 4th or 5th time they have booked the CVB/Cracker shows on pretty much the same weekend at the ME.

Yes, but I think previous years were on Sunday. My memory is I didn't go lays year because was the same night as the Pats in the AFC championship game. When that game ended I wish I had gone to the show.

His entire concert would be a pee break for me.

that made me laugh.

hope he plays that deep cut, "Piano something or other"

but i gotta love and applaud the schlock factor.

Yeah I was thinking it was a Sunday show....they always were before, I think.

We have been to three of them, but bailed on one as we had a large and early dinner and the had no motivation to hang around for another two hours before doors opened. So we drove home.

The best one was the show when CVB played Key Lime Pie.

Great night. Like it on a Friday rather than Sunday. Place was packed, hot and sweaty. My friend who I was with and I both thought it was a better night than 2 years ago, higher energy in the crowd. Lots of calls for Johnny, and whooping and hollering and general mayhem during Cracker's set. I liked the Camper Van set much better last night than last time. Although I always prefer Cracker, love hearing Johnny play, and I like the Cracker songbook better. Can't give a set list, but all the usual suspects were played. CVB played Matchstick Men second song in, which surprised me (although I'm not familiar with their set lists from night to night). All in all it was lots of fun downstairs in the Middle East.

I was there, last minute call. My experience was different. Missed Gunn. Didn't think Ranaldo was all that good. Not that familiar with all his stuff, but really didn't like the new songs, which I was hearing for the first time. Last/first time I saw him Lee Ranaldo Band, in summer of 2012 opening for Wilco in Hartford I was blown away. Had no expectations, hadn't heard any of the new album and ended up liking all those songs a lot. Was surprised how empty it was there.

And then to cap it off, at the end of the night, found my car had been towed.

it doesn't help you then, but $15 is cheaper than a tow...

Superchunk tonight. Pretty excited. First time seeing them...

How was it?

They remain one of my all-time faves. The last time I saw them play, two years ago, they totally ripped it up. All of them in great form -- my expectations were kind of low, cuz well, they are getting on in years for the pace of their music. But their show was high-energy and awesome. Heard they're touring without Laura these days though, which is sure to cause some broken hearts.

Big Star's Third album at the Enmore in Sydney.

Cat Power, Kurt Vile, Edwyn Collins, and several Australian artists including Tim Rogers (You Am I), Kim Salmon (The Scientists) and Dave Faulkner (Hoodoo Gurus). The core band will once again feature Mike Mills (R.E.M.) on bass; Mitch Easter (Let’s Active) and Chris Stamey (The dB’s) and Ken Stringfellow (The Posies, Big Star) on guitar; and original Big Star member Jody Stephens on drums.

Superchunk were great!! How did I not get into these guys earlier? Definitely adding them to my "must see when they are in town" list (it is a short list). Great energy and intensity. Just love that voice. Bass player, Jason Narducy, is great. He fronted the opening band, Split Single, as well and they were also very good.

Narducy is not an original member.  Probably got in because Jon Wurster (drummer) and him are Bob Mould's touring band.  I've followed Jason for several years as in opened several tours for Bob in the 90s with a cellist named Alison Chelsey.  They released a couple of LPs and Jason & Alison and a couple as a full band called Verbow.  Bob produced the first Verbow LP called Chronicles.  Their stuff is worth searching for.

Jason & Alison will back Bob on his Workbook 25th tour soon.  Sorry I won't be able to see those shows.

Cate Le Bon is playing at Schuba's tonight.

And I am going to miss her.

As long as we are pointing these things out, Jon is not an original member. No idea why he was brought in back in '91 though.

My first time at Concord was last night. It is a really terrible venue. Looks nice enough, but the sound competes with the Aragon for worst in the City by my ears. Felt bad for the AD from a sound standpoint - they appeared to be having the same issue from the stage. And then there was the crowd, who barely noticed they were on the stage...

How was Giving Tree?
