Ha! When I walked out of last night's Slint show I turned to take a picture of the marquee and they had already changed it to the Milk Carton Kids.

I thought the Slint show was great.  Britt Walford is a monster. They were very tight.  Not much chatter or interaction, either with the audience or each other.

Britt's in a new project called Watter, w/ a couple of the guys from Grails.

good to see him playing again, i agree. he's awesome.

Arcade Fire in Atlanta.  No tux for me.

What was the orderof the opening bands last night?  I'd like to see Tune-Yards, but I don't care to see Kid Koala.

Sounds good.  I'm not a huge AF fan, but I'm really looking forward to this show. It almost feels like a holiday weekend.  This'll be the first big show I've seen in a few years.

What did you think of the show?  I was there, too, and thought it was fantastic.  Great sound and stage show.  Covering Radio Free Europe in the encore was pretty bad ass, as well.

right on. i think we are in row K

I lucked out & scored 2nd row dead center tickets on craigslist. The comedy tonight was some of the funniest i've ever seen. Daniel Kitson especially, who had me in tears.

Neko sounded terrible; that mix was embarrassing, and at Berklee of all places. Figured we'd get a new song of hers, but enjoyed Pauline & one of the only Justin Townes Earle songs I know, Harlem River Blues.

yeah she was fighting the sound, which was weird...they would have had plenty of time to soundcheck (but her vocals sounded better after the 1st song). they also did a Crooked Fingers song, Sleep All Summer.

yeah, the comedians were fantastic. the Thune bit about him and his dog being stoned was awesome.

Yes, it was a lot of fun.  Unfortunately, we had to leave right as they were going into Radio Free Europe, but we got ot hear it in full as we departed.  I've never seen them before, but I thought they did a great job putting on a show in a large venue.  I thoguht the crowd was really good, too.  Frequently at big shows the crowd can be a bunch of suits and talkers, but everyone seemed to be really into it.  That was refreshing.

Busy week:

Tuesday - Nels Cline Singers

Wouldn't mind hearing about the show -- doesn't look like I will making it up there for the show.

It was my first time hearing the Nels Cline Singers and it was weird and fascinating.  You'd think that with music that experimental that the crowd wouldn't quite stay with it, but people were rapt.  Nels broke out every guitar noise trick in the book with slides and coils and pedals, and the percussion was the craziest I've seen -- everything from plastic bottlecaps tied together, to strange vocalizations through a megaphone, to a bunch of paperclips strung together.  Nels vocalized a bit too (no words, but sounds).  John Stirratt and Glenn Kotche were both there in the audience, too.
