I am really disappointed with the Kansas City fans. Just who would those yahoos have wanted Cano to kick off his HR derby team for the kid?

Ortiz? Joey Bats? Prince...who won the fucking thing?

I'm 100% with the fans. He said he would pick a hometown player and then he didn't. Why not? So the A.L. would win? Win what? Isn't this whole thing purely for the fans? Who cares who wins? Give the hometown fans something to cheer for and to get excited about.

KC fans should be grateful. Billy Butler is a line-drive hitter with some power. Participating in a home run derby could screw up his swing for a couple weeks.

On a different note: I miss having the Royals and that fabulous stadium being part of MLB's most competitive teams. KC is a great baseball town, but they're a half of a pitching staff away from a return to the playoffs. Great position players, though. Expect Wil Myers to be called up soon to take over RF, regardless of Jeff Francouer's contract.

As previously stated...this should be an interesting show.

All that money spent, and there's a better than average chance the Marlins end up in fourth in the NL East.

Ben Sheets is back in the bigs with Atlanta. He pitched well yesterday, but after missing two seasons the Braves only gave him two starts in the minors (10.2 innings) before recalling him. I'm glad to see him back, but I hope he makes it past August.

Even though the Rangers have the second best record in baseball, I have an uneasy feeling about this team.

Young, Napoli and Cruz have been mired in varying degrees of slumps. And now Hamilton is an 0 for 2 from his average dipping below .300.

The pitching is strong, but there are some holes in the lineup that really need to be addressed.

Good news, bad news, Red Sox fans: Carl Crawford is being activated, and Brent Lillibridge - the trade return for Kevin Youkilis - is being removed from the roster on the same night in which Youkilis is returning to Boston with the White Sox.

I know they have underachieved mightily this season, but I am still surprised that they are selling. It probably makes sense, but I still can't get my head around it.

Phils can go 40-20 (with a tough schedule) the rest of the way and win only 85 games. It would take a 45-15 record to get to 90 wins, which might get them a WC berth. 50-10 lands them in first place. They really have no chance and need prospects. The Phils can reload with free agents in the offseason as they still have some money to spend (I wouldn't expect a run a Josh Hamilton, etc.). They should have fixed the bullpen six weeks ago to compete this season, but they did get some decent prospects today. I'm glad I went to a game last week and got to see Victorino and Pence during their Philly stints.

I can live with two low-level prospects for Ryan Dempster. But I'm still skeptical of the Rangers' chances to make the postseason this year.

Why Dempster would want to go to the AL is beyond me.

Still a little early to panic..but it is looking really grim.

Hamilton, Napoli and Young have been a black hole in the lineup,.Kinsler isn't getting on base. It's really sad when the biggest story for a team with this potential offense is the emergence of Craig Gentry...and he isn't in the lineup everyday.

Hamilton's collapse has been eerie to watch. I keep envisioning lepruchans carting off bank bags filled with $100 bills with every strikeout and 0-fer.He will be lucky to get a journeyman's contract after this two month collapse.

I'm really glad they didn't touch Profar, Olt or Perez.

One good thing about this summer...It may hasten the arrival of the two golden children of the Rangers' minor leagues. I can see Kinsler being trundled off to Left Field and Young not tendered another contract. This would open up a space for Profar to move to second and Olt to make the bigs as a DH/1b/3b option.
