Mr. Heartbreak
Wow, sold out in less than 24 hours. Impressive.
mountain bed
I'm pretty excited about the bonus material. In '72 all but about a half dozen of the 80 or so shows featured either Dark Star or The Other One. The 11/15 OKC show that's part of the bonus stuff was one of the shows that didn't have either tune, but instead we get a brain frying 30 minute Playin as the centerpiece of that show! I'm a Playin' guy so this is excellent news.Wow, sold out in less than 24 hours. Impressive.I guess The Dead will be on the Billboard charts again then.

i'm only sleeping
Just heard cd1 of last DP (vol. 11). Really diggin' it, by now it may rank the best one in the last bunch of Lemieux picks

calvino
I'm hoping I get mine today. Got mine today - won't be to be able to listened to though until later in the week.
worldrecordplayer
Mine didn't arrive today. Which is ok, as my Allman Brothers Complete Fillmore East box did. 6 discs. That will keep me occupied.
calvino
I am the opposite - still waiting on my ABB set. I ordered Blu-Ray and they mistakenly sent CD's. The CDs showed up last Thursday - I almost "mistakenly" opened it, just so I could listen to the set over the weekend - but opted out.

I've read that it sounds like you're sitting front row center of the Fillmore, all the music coming out of the front speakers and crowd ambient sound coming out of the rear surround sound speakers. worldrecordplayer
It was 40 years ago today, August 6, 1974, I stepped into Roosevelt Stadium, the Orange Sun was Shining brightly, the Wall of Sound was staring us down, a beardless Jerry and band stepped out into the sunshine and kicked into Bertha, and away we went. First show. At least I've been enjoying the ride.
calvino
Last night, I listened to the latest Dave's Pick - good stuff, of course. After first listen, the highlights for me: Cumberland Blues; Jerry plays great on Me and My Uncle and Big River - great licks; enjoyed the Casey Jones, too. Need to listened to the He's Gone through Brokedown Palace again - it was getting late in the evening. Haven't listened to the filler yet.

Playing ->Scarlet->Playing!Put down the new Dave's Picks and listen to Roosevelt Stadium 8/6/74.You'll be glad you did.So many highlights: Playing>Scarlet>Playing (in first set!), and that monster Sugar Mag jam sequence in the second set. Can't believe I got a Spanish Jam at my first show (although I'm sure I didn't appreciate the significance as I would later). Definitely a show for the ages.

worldrecordplayer
It looks like Garcia has beard in that picture above. Absolutely right. I don't know why I have that labeled as Roosevelt Stadium, could be from '73. Jerry was definitely beardless in '74, which totally spaced me out when they came out.

augustus westerberg
THE WIND BLOWS HIGH Trees whip to the ground, the clouds are streamingTo think I would ever live to see this dayBeneath an angry sky the crowd is screamingIt's clear that someone's got to pay I cannot account for where I've beenNever thought I'd need an alibiOpen up the sky and let me inOh - the wind blows high I see you coming in the morning soonUnwrap your blue guitar, play a merciful tuneWipe a final tear from a dead man's eyeOh - the wind blows high The wind blows high and the wind blows low againThere's a shaking in the ground like the world might endVoices of the sea and sky contendThe wind blows high and the wind blows low again Through these wicked sheets of driving rainI can hear the whistle of a trainSomeone's gone away and never coming backThe crew's already tearing up the track Track by track they cart the road awayRail by rail the pile mounts to the skyDoes it always have to end this way?Oh - the wind blows high I see you stranded on the border lineUnwrap your blue guitar, play a tune so fineHold that rhythm, never let it dieRock me while the wind blows high The wind blows high and the wind blows low againThere's a shaking in the ground like the world might endOpen up the sky and let me inThe wind blows high and the wind blows low again The wind blows high and the wind blows low again...
