Atticus
Hugging can run rampant during the holidays. Please warn your kids.
Hixter
A 10-year-old was recently suspended for shooting another student with an imaginary bow and arrow. Zero tolerance regulations need to be scrapped.
NoJ
Any pics of the teacher?

JUDE
Good suspension. No means no.
Radiant Witch Face
this is truly stupid. if I were a parent I would be enraged. I guess kids shouldn't try to be nice or anything.
John Smith
Well he is black also, so it's ok. //snark off
The High Heat
Flipping her off would have gotten him 3 days detention.
bjorn_skurj
Seems a little extreme, but people are scared of black teen males more than any other demographic in this country. Was there a boner involved?
Lammycat
So the teacher apparently warned him before and also claims his lips touched her cheek/neck. If this is true, he should be suspended for sexual harassment.
Lammycat
A 10-year-old was recently suspended for shooting another student with an imaginary bow and arrow. Well, did the other kid receive an imaginary wound? And, if so, how bad was the wound?
bjorn_skurj
I think he's imaginary dead, so the kid has to go to imaginary prison.
Doug C
I agree with Lammycat but suspended for a year? There has to be more to the story. I have taught for 28 years, if a teacher hugged a student without an invite, hell with an invite!, they should expect a shitstorm. Hugging a student that had asked them not to? plus having their lips touch them? A student, especially high school age, can't hug their teacher in the manner described, either. I feel like Paul Harvey will chime in with "the rest of the story".
Lammycat
Yeah, seems to be an excessive amount of time but we don't know all the details and/or district policies/legalities.
gogo
His mother "says she and her son call themselves huggers". As an avowed non-hugger, it's astonishing to me how many huggers feel that their "right" to hug me takes precedence over my right to not be hugged. I don't know what his past disciplinary problems were, but it seems likely he's been warned about this previously.
Winston Legthigh
unasked-for hugs are creepy, not to mention simple battery. The punishment is excessive though.

jff
My mom is a 2nd grade teacher and I've seen photos of her hugging her students. If I go to her house for christmas will that make me an accessory to child pornography?
Winston Legthigh
A simple way to see if someone is receptive to an offered hug? Hold out your arms in pre-hug position. If they make the same gesture, go for it. If not, you've entered the no-hug zone.

bjorn_skurj
I think they should electrify a mannequin and make the kid hug it so as to condition him not to be such a hug-slut.
Moss
The "hugs not drugs" saying will need replacing.
Lammycat
Is dry-humping the leg of the teacher frowned upon, too?
