  1. So much of that show was rooted in the 50's - how do you make that work in 2010? Lenny & Squiggy being greasers in the 50's is funny; in 2010 it's creepy.
  2. Definitely not the kiss-and-tell thread I was expecting.
  3. AM - casino queen; passenger side BT - (2-disc set, so I'll cheat and put 3 on)Monday; Misunderstood; Sunken Treasure ST - I'm always in love; how to fight lonliness YHF - (THE classic - so it gets 3) heavy metal drummer; jesus, etc., poor places AGIB - hummingbird; handshake drugs KT - I'm the man... (for the opening alone - track #1 on album); comment (closes album) SBS - you are my face; sky blue sky W(TA) - one wing; bull black nova MMA's - mountain bed; one by one; california stars b-sides/extras - hate it here (ashes version); panthers (agib bonus track); be not so fearful (from the movi
  4. Fess Parker Winery was used in Sideways as the place where Miles drinks the spit bucket. His winery was always seen as being overly commercial and a bit cheesy, which is what the winery it stood in for in the movie was supposedly like. You gotta admire his sense of humor to let them do that. Most people would take themselves too seriously and sue for defamation of character or something.
  5. People on this board are pretty cool (ie: GregorySamsa's ticket offer) but bcart if I were you I'd edit that phone number out of the post. You never know.
  6. That site is REEEEEEALLY addictive!
  7. I can't believe it actually took me 44 seconds. My typing isn't the fastest in the world, but I actually froze up a bit on a ghost is born.
  8. Congrats! Did you two meet here or did you know each other before VC?
  9. SAB? Glenn and The Most Interesting Man in the World
  10. Thank you! I'll be here all week... try the Kingpin.
  11. Is this the place with the camel out front and the little orange table/chairs?
  12. Because they've 'got a lot of nerve.'
  13. If we're going to be hypothetical bears, might as well be hypothetical grizzlies. If they were all still around... If Wilco could have somehow existed back then... If we had a time machine... If we all just had way too much time on our hands... Oh, wait. That last one is apparently true. I would like to hear Poor Places. Seems like the best fit to me - it's the most A Day in the Life-esque.
  14. I can't believe this thread is two pages in and no one has made a joke revolving around peeing standing up or sitting down. You people are way too mature for me! As for the actual debate, I for one would find it very odd to stand through How to Fight Lonliness or Remember the Mountain Bed if a seat was available for me to sit in. Plus, it's really cool when everyone leaps out of their seat for a song like Monday if it follows something more mellow.
  15. With all due respect, I would like to put up for a vote the notion that any Chipotle-related 'hearings' be disqualified. It's a given.
  16. If only I had TiVo for my computer.
  17. I could totally see someone turning it into a Beatles version of Graceland. Too much potential $$$ in keeping that place intact.
  18. Crow Daddy, Where did you find that? I'd like to quote it in my Ancient Civ class at school to help stay current on all the latest findings. If I use it I'd like to be able to have my source be "some guy on a Wilco fan site." No offense, but our principal frowns on such things.
  19. That rules!! My kids got really into the new Wilco album when they saw the album cover. "Play the camel album daddy!" They had no idea what was on it, but it had a camel... so they were in. My son thought Wilco (the song) was saying 'coco.' Later when he realized what it really said he would relate his previous mistake - "They aren't saying Coco daddy. They're saying Wilco." They also liked 'the song with the girl' - You and I. So, I made a mix that included both songs as well as a bit of Feist. The 'Counting Song' (1234) was also a big hit.
  20. Wow. Is he just totally stoned? That intro bit just rambles on forever. Is it a Jack Black tribute or Neil Young? The song was damn good though.
  21. Her first album was very generic, cutesy, mainstream yet mellow pop. This album has was recorded in the wake of her husband's death and has a much darker cloud hanging over it, but is still in the pop/singer-songwriter style. No guarantees about quality, but at least there's more substance this time around. Personally, for her sake, I wish it were more like the first album.
  22. Why does that make me think of Peter Frampton's voice box deal from the 70s?
  23. I hate to say it but this looks like his orthodontist is just going through the motions.
  24. I would love to see them do a whole album's worth of videos, each one shot by a different director, and none of them featuring anyone in the band. Who said they actually had to be in it? It'd be cool to see someone else's interpretation.
