Again, I'm glad you called me on this. I took this from someone else's blog post and really only looked at the ratings, not the numbers. I emailed him to find out (since I don't think I linked to the correct site) if he typed it in wrong or if he knew more about those numbers. He replied saying that he copied it directly from the site and that he too thought it was weird, since they should probably have the same rating. The only thing that he could think of was that maybe they weight it based on seniority. Either way, the real point here is that Hillary can't lay sole claim to working hard

Man do I wish Via Chicago was the 51st state with 497 delagates available!

WXRT.com: VIP contests, giveaways, experiences
Mr. Kinsley replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
That made me giggle. -
Why don't we just settle this and then let the press know later. Maybe we can put together a press release on the all-important VC endorsement!

I know I already said something to this effect, but William Bennett (of all people) said the other night after the So. Carolina victory speech how much Obama reminded him of Reagan when speaking. "There's so much lift" I believe was the way he put it. Not the policy or the rhetoric, but the tone. There is something to that which goes beyond party or agenda. And don't get me started on the experience factor! Hillary Clinton has sponsored 350 bills since Jan 22, 2001, of which 304 haven't made it out of committee (Very Poor) and 2 were successfully enacted (Average, relative to peers). Clint

The real bummer here is that the people of MI and FLA didn't get the chance to meet the candidates. Once people get the chance to really hear Obama speak and then do some comparing, he starts swaying people. My wife was a strong Hillary supporter until the Iowa victory speech. I spent 1/2 my time watching her face as it slowly went from "hmm" to "WOW!" Hillary doesn't do that for people (well, she does, but the other way around.) Depending on which of their policies you're comparing, you're either talking apples and oranges or Galas and Golden Delicious. They aren't that far apart on most s

Bush's State of the Union Address: The Final Chapter
Mr. Kinsley replied to Sir Stewart's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I laughed out loud on that one! He looked so damn proud of himself for even getting the words out. I have to say, it was his best delivered speech that I've ever seen, but definitely a little light on the substance. -
Oh yeah? OH YEAH?!?!? Well, well... maybe SBS doesn't like you either! Huh? And yeah, I'm ready for a new Wilco album too.

Yeah, I'll still watch. But still... no Jeff?... poop!
-
Weeeeell... poop.

I thought Jeff played this. Am I thinking of another SF festival?

I'm just glad that our long national nightmare of not knowing where Santana goes is over. NOW can we have pitchers and catchers report?!?!

Sorry to derail the vibe train for a moment, but Pookie... the juxtaposition of your vibe wishes and your new avatar cracks me up!!

Kev, sorry to hear about that - sounds pretty dreadful. But fortunately it sounds like you guys are pretty on top of it and the long-term solution will be positive, which is ultimately the most important thing. These little buggers are pretty damn resilient and can bounce back in no time! Hang in there! Hope he's feeling better soon! We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

I've been under the rather mistaken assumption that that was the Veep's house since I was about 10. I remembered hearing about Truman living in Blair House while the White House was being renovated, and made the connection that he must be living at the VP's house. I'm glad you called me out on that, because I did a quick Wikipedia search (THIS is the type of thing it's perfect for) and found that the real address is Number One Observatory Circle. Way too nice a place for the likes of Cheney. Now when I'm making the "Hillary will never settle..." argument, I can use the correct address!

I think it was because there were too many instances of kids being led into a playground, house, unmarked van by adults they'd never met. There were a lot of not-so-good ideas about strangers being reinforced in the original episodes.

Sheesh! Did you read any of the comments after that story? This guy was responding to someone else's post: We are really still there as a country? I'm sorry your mom had a bad situation, but do you really think Obama's gonna steal your mom's purse? I would really like to think that the prescence of a black man in the Oval Office would have a positive effect on young black males. I can't imagine it not providing at least some small boost in confidence that there really is more opportunity out there than was previously imagined.

The Greatest VC Birthday Day of All
Mr. Kinsley replied to bjorn_skurj's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Sheesh. After some of the disturbing items in this thread (giant lice AND John Ashcroft?) I'm getting both of you a gift certificate for therapy. Hope you were both still able to fully enjoy your special day! Happy Birthday! -
That was just a good old fashioned pants down spanking! Holy crap, I didn't see that one coming by that big of a margin.
-
Do you not notice that virtually every thread you post in you have some sort of situation like this? Maybe it really is you and not everyone else on the board. Sorry. Carry on with the actual topic.

was the Death Star attack an inside job?
Mr. Kinsley replied to cryptique's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
This is actually the most clear-headed conspiracy theory argument I've ever heard. Seriously. I'm going to write my representative and demand a recount! ...or something. -
Dude! You don't understand! I read it online. Barack Obama stole this one guy's kidney and left him in a tub full of ice with a phone and a note that he'd better call 911 immediately. See... call 911... 9/11... kidneys are shaped a bit like a crescent moon... coincidence? I think not.

Hillary would never "settle" for living in Blair House and Barack as her VP would seem totally disingenuous (sp?) after all the mudslinging between them. As for experience, we are a rather fickle lot, us Americans. We want someone who can bring about change in Washington and despise everything about the place and we want 3 week term limits and blah blah blah, but if you haven't been there long enough you aren't experienced enough. So which is it? I think he's been there long enough to know the lay of the land, but not too long that he's 'one of them.' Adn yes, your opinion counts... if yo

No, I don't really do enough, you're right. Am I proud of that? Not really. I used to do some volunteer work with a few buddies of mine, but that was before we all had kids. Caring for toddlers is sort of like having your own little non-profit! I do believe that voting for Obama is a step in the right direction and voting for him is actually doing something. To be perfectly honest I'd much rather be voting for Al Gore. (A Gore/Obama ticket would kick 27 different kinds of ass, by the way.) Especially the new and improved Al Gore. I think getting away from Washington for a while has really he
