Yeah, very good interview; also talks about working with Jim O'Rourke on Ghost and Born Again.
  2. Casa is definitely more of a restaurant than a taco and beer place; a really great restaurant with a really great bar. If you want tacos and beer, I'm sure they can accommodate you. Also, I'm going to plug this one last time as I have in previous threads; if you're going to be in Athens today (Thursday) at 7:30, come out to Arts/WEST for a free advance screening of Ashes of American Flags. More info here: http://events.publicbroadcasting.net/woub/...;eventID=879038 I'll see you all at the show on Friday!
  3. Yeah, I'm getting the same placeholder screen. I'm sure all the goodies will be up by the 18th.
  4. Also not yet on that list is a screening in Athens, Ohio on April 16th at 7:30 PM at Arts/WEST community arts center. It's free, and the night before Wilco comes to Athens, so it's a great way to get hyped up for the show.
  5. The venue is within a block of pretty much every good bar and eatery on our campus. For food, I recommend the Bagel Street Deli, and for drinks check out Jackie O's (it's a bar/microbrewery deal). As a sidenote: if you can make it down the night before, we're doing an advance screening of Ashes of American flags at a community arts center in Athens called Arts/WEST at 7:30.
  6. Hmm... Wilco AND Sonic Youth have records coming out. Might just be wishful thinking, but does anyone think there's a chance of another Wilco/Sonic Youth tour?
  7. Nels solo is a treat, you Aussies are lucky!
  8. Two really great shows, I enjoyed it way more than seeing the full band on tour with LCD Soundsystem last year. Everyone was excited to be there, and the energy in that room was just intense. I just wish more people would have shown up for that second show...
  9. Here's another example of Glenn solo, with some solo Nels thrown in for good measure:
  10. I expect the band will eventually make it available as a free download via the Sky Blue Sky enhanced CD jazz...
  11. I picked mine up at the Cincinnati show from the merch stand. It may show up on Wilco's online store sooner or later...
  12. Wow, looks like quite a strong contingent of the Via Chicago community will be out in force. I'll see you all there!
  13. No CD/DVD combo here yet either, and I got the confirmation e-mail last friday. A band as good as Wilco shouldn't be dealing with a company as unreliable as Musictoday. I won't be pre-ordering from them again.
  14. Who else thinks they should do a special pressing of this single and sell it online, so us Americans can get in on the single hoopla?
  15. I've always wondered if Wilco would play on PHC someday... almost surprised that they didn't get on the show during the Being There era. Anyways, should be really cool, Garrison usually gets the guests in on some of the sketches (Tweedy in Guy Noir?) in some pretty interesting ways. My family has listened to PHC for as long as I can remember, so it'll be really amazing to hear my favorite band playing on it!
  16. If they do come to Columbus, it'll probably be at the Wex again. The Wex has booked every Wilco-related show here (Wilco, Jeff & Glenn solo, Nels & Glenn solo) for the past two years or so. Dunno what to tell you wheelco.... except that the Four Kegs is located pretty much directly across the street.
  17. Yup, make a video for "What Light" and win a trip for two to the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona to see and meet the band. Here's the link for anyone who's interested: http://www.ep3.es/?obj_id=3871
  18. I'm pretty sure it's also described as being an 'enhanced' CD on Amazon, which bodes well for those of us looking forward to the obligatory free download-able EP. I'm sure they'll get the CD/DVD version on there soon enough. My local record store said that they were buying some of that version, so it's not just a MusicToday exclusive or anything like that.
  19. I saw them for the first time on February 9, 2005 at the Mershon Auditorium in Columbus, OH. It was my 16th birthday, and was basically the best present anyone could have given me. Before the show I got to see the Autumn Defense do a small in-store at Used Kids records, which was very cool. Met John and Pat at the in-store, as well as Glenn and Mike, and bought one of my first 'modern' vinyl records; Circles by the Autumn Defense. My first ever wilco bootleg was of that show as well..... good times.
  20. http://www.cincinnatiarts.org/event_detail.jsp?event_id=703 Looks like tickets go on sale to the public on Friday. Still no official news on the pre-sale, although I expect it'll be Wednesday.
  21. Ouch, just realized this is the same night as the Tortoise show in C-bus...
  22. So far, it reminds me of a combination of Good News and The Moon & Antarctica. It's certainly a much more solid album than Good News, but still doesn't really live up to the quality of The Moon & Antarctica. I think people just need to get used to the fact that Modest Mouse isn't going to be hearkening back to the days of Long Drive anytime soon. The new stuff is enjoyable, just different, and arguably hard to accept if you're expecting their old sound.
  23. If either of you two have AIM, head to the "skybluesky" chatroom. Plenty of knowledgeable people in there that will work with you guys to get things working
  24. I had no idea the "Circles" LP was such a limited release. I bought my copy from them at a show back in 05' and got it signed on the spot. I guess it's a little more special than I thought. Show sounds like it was great, I'm jealous!
  25. Wow. I never thought I'd see Nels Cline and Jeff Parker on the same stage, but I guess it just happened. Excellent show at a great sounding venue. It may have been the Scott Amendola Band, but Nels just about stole the show with his solos on "Buffalo Bird Woman" and "Oladipo". A real treat to see him share the stage a totally different group of very talented musicians. If you're in the Chicago area, by all means, check out their show at the Empty Bottle Saturday night! Setlist: Lullaby for Sasha Believe Smarty Pants If Only Once Pannonica (Thelonius Monk cover) Blues for our Grand Bazzar
