I ordered from Nonesuch. No vinyl yet, no e-mail, and my card still hasn't been charged.

You must be talking about the dancing/moonwalk, because to my ears, he was merely lip-synching to the album cut.
-
I love the stuff with his brothers in that video. Not sure why they felt he needed to lip-synch "Billie Jean"...

I think at least a dozen of my friends had this poster back in the day:

I hope you're talking about "One Wing." I still don't think much of "Bull Black Nova."

I didn't get a chance to see the match, and didn't find out the result until I got home around 8 PM from a very long day. Then I went to bed early out of exhaustion and missed SportsCenter. Hopefully I'll be able to catch some highlights somewhere online. Good for the U.S. -- I've been down on this team for a while, and didn't give them a snowball's chance in hell of beating Spain, which is why I didn't track the score from work yesterday. I fully expected to hear of a 4-0 blowout with a total collapse of the U.S. defense. Imagine my surprise... It'd be lovely to see a U.S.-South Africa fi

Is the board not as active as it once was?
cryptique replied to Tweedling's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Figured you knew about it, but just in case... Over the past few years I've developed a habit of doing that virtually any time I click a link. -

Published Wilco (the album) articles and reviews

Mike Ragogna weighs in via Huffington Post: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Wilco - Wilco (The Album) Oh, Tweedy, must we go all first person in the first song on an album that's self-titled? We know, it's supposed to be a song to the fans, and it's been on the net to ponder for a while now, but...really? Wilco's going to love, maybe even protect us from all our personal ills and demons ("...a sonic shoulder to cry on")? And another question or two: Was "Bull Black Nova" invented so Nels Cline could play his ass off and not quit the band (considering this is practically a singer-songwr -

Absolutely ... and if I still haven't heard anything about my vinyl order shipping by the middle of this week, I'll definitely start to worry.
-
I pre-ordered the vinyl, but have held off on ordering the CD because I thought there might eventually be an announcement of a deluxe edition with bonus DVD, or some such. (Plus, I believe I'll get a copy of the CD with the vinyl anyway.) Has anyone read or heard anything about a deluxe/bonus/special/enhanced/whatever version?
-
I ordered the vinyl from Nonesuch mostly because I didn't want the T-shirt. Haven't heard anything yet about my order shipping, but it's still over a week until the release date, so I'm not too worried ... yet.

Albums that you discovered hearing them playing at record stores
cryptique replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
This has happened to me several times, but the only one I specifically recall is The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths. I already knew The Smiths, but didn't know at that time that they had a new album out. I think this is also how I came to buy Let Me Come Over by Buffalo Tom, among many others. Boy do I ever miss Schoolkids. -
Wilco -- 2009.06.12, Aronoff Center, Cincinnati, OH
cryptique replied to Florox's topic in After The Show
After you're finished patting yourself on the back for sticking one to the man, maybe you should take a moment to consider that some people specifically buy loge or balcony seats so they don't have to deal with assholes standing up in front of them. -
God I hope so.

You may be right, but I hope he is able to cancel it out through solid play. Even though he's a Met.

I hate the Mets, and normally wouldn't pity them because of this ... but it was against the Yankees, whom I hate even more, so in this case, yeah, I pity them.

Yay Penguins! People 'round these parts (i.e., SE Michigan) are so much easier to tolerate when the Red Wings don't win the Cup.

Can someone please explain the Tweedy "Living Room Shows"?
cryptique replied to Bart's topic in Just A Fan
You can probably find a lengthy explanation through creative use of the search function, but to save you a bit of time: I was at the 3/3/07 show. Here's how that happened... Each year there's a benefit auction for an organization called Letters To Santa. It's held at/by Second City in Chicago. For the last several years, Jeff Tweedy has graciously volunteered to play private "living room" shows for groups of no more than thirty people who successfully bid in the auction. He has typically played three, maybe four of these shows each year, with all of the money going to the charity. The bi -
Topic/Forum read markers working now with RC2?
cryptique replied to solace's topic in Speakers Speaking In Code
They're working for me now too. That's a vast improvement, but I'm still hoping that Invision can fix the "Mark board as read" issue asap ... that's killing me. I also REALLY miss the old drop-down that gave you the option to mark the current forum read and return to the board index vs. marking it read and remaining in the forum. -
I second (third?) the Ferry Building recommendation, along with the farmer's market out back (Saturdays and Tuesdays, if I recall correctly). I cannot WAIT to get back to that town.

I think I have his two Rounder albums. Haven't listened to them in ages, but I recall enjoying them.

We spent a week in SF last year and are heading back for two more weeks later this summer. Restaurants are one of the reasons we go there, and though we're not locals, we have a few suggestions (perhaps some locals could corroborate/dispute my list). These are just the ones I remember off the top of my head ... we plan to re-visit all of these places this summer, and many more. Axum Café, 698 Haight St. - Excellent Ethiopian food. Casual atmosphere. Pagan, 731 Clement St. (and 3199 Clement St.) - Burmese food. Yum. Benjarong, 1968 Lombard St. - Good Thai place. There are at least two oth

Got mine framed quite a while ago, but only hung them in the last month or so. They have greatly improved the feel of our dining room.
