  1. I threatened to move to Europe when Stephen Harper became Prime Minister. True story.
  2. I bought Year of the Horse on DVD. It's okay. Rust Never Sleeps is much more fun. I love the idea of using giant amps, etc. to make NY & Crazy Horse appear smaller than life. (A visual joke about the giant egos and arena rock wankery of the 70s, perhaps?) Classic Neil weirdness and magic.
  3. More Neil stuff for beginners who like Harvest:
  4. I remember him fondly because he fed me a cookie once. I never forget anyone who feeds me.
  5. If that story is true, she should have done it. I think a woman could transform that song into something like Strange Fruit.
  6. I really love Jeff's vocal on Unwelcome Guest as well, but Another Man's Done Gone is my all time favourite. I'll always have a soft spot for the first MM Ave album because that was how I discovered Wilco. I bought it for Bragg and Woody, but Wilco's contributions stood out immediately. I bought Being There and Summerteeth shortly after that and pretty much fell in love at first listen. After watching MITS, I realized that Jeff/Wilco worked hard to keep Woody from being marginalized as just another socialist folk singer (not that there's anything wrong with that) and that vision really
  7. Oh, how scary, Dunja! Best wishes to Tara for a speedy recovery.
  8. I'll second the Live at Massey Hall suggestion and add Live Rust. (There's nothing better than live Neil.)
  9. I used to love Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet.
  10. Every once in awhile, I come across something that I would have loved to share with Nat. I think I'll post them here instead for your enjoyment. Bonfire of the Princesses
  11. Happy birthday, Drew! The future is unwritten.
  12. I just ordered the complete Dr. Katz on DVD as a birthday present to myself. Best. Show. Ever.
  13. Thanks for all your kind wishes. I celebrated my birthday in Victoria, where the cherry blossoms are out and the gardens are already in full bloom.
  14. I'm now almost finished Gabor Mate's book, In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts, and highly recommend it. I've always loved the idea of "Christ" coming back as an addict in The Ruling Class because I really do believe that the path to redemption requires us to let go of moralizing in order to show love and compassion for those who suffer most... "find him if you wanna get found."
  15. Probably the house itself (1907), although I do have some antique jewelry, china, and silver that belonged to my grandmother.
  16. Absolutely! Live Neil is always a good investment.
