  1. NY Archives has been lovingly crafted as a work of art in itself... to be experienced as an archaeological dig, of sorts. It's a treasure to unearth slowly, with care. If (!) this is ever released, I'm going to buy it. No question.
  2. Sadly, I do not own that sweater. (But I do covet it.)
  3. Neil Young is crazy - sometimes in a brilliant way, sometimes not so much. He's like a mad scientist with a guitar. And as sweet as that NY Archives trailer is, you just know that the release is going to be delayed again because Neil has conveniently started another project that demands his full attention. Like a Linc Volt album, perhaps? At this point, I think I'm suffering from Stockholm syndrome.
  4. Yes, what an incredible way to celebrate your birthday. ... What an incredible tour! Lordy.
  5. Attn: Neil Young fans in Philly... Full moon tonight!
  6. Jeff Tweedy picks his essential live albums.
  7. "Without me you're just... Americans." Jon Stewart recycled that joke on the Daily Show the other night. Provinces in Peril: Indecision OH-EH? (At least we're getting some quality laughs out of this stuff.)
  8. Strange times. I just want the Liberals to get their act together so they can win the next election. Get. Harper. Out.
  9. Did anyone catch the Daily Show last night? Funny stuff!
  10. In case you missed it the other day, here's some classic Rex Murphy on Harper's arrogance/stupidity: To call this undignified is to give it too much dignity!
  11. Harper has shown that he is totally unfit to lead. He failed to win a majority (twice) and he can't play nicely in the sandbox with the other kids. He's also pissing off Quebec by dissing the Bloc (their MPs were elected by Canadians - yes, Quebec counts too!) which isn't exactly great for national unity... or his chances of winning a majority in the future.
  12. Let's hope so. Harper's an arrogant f#@k and he should be forced to step down. As I said in the other thread, I'm not crazy about the idea of a coalition, but I do think the Liberals, NDP, and BQ represent the values and priorities of most Canadians much better than Harper's Conservatives do.
  13. Who said Canadian politics was boring? (Oops, I guess that was me, wasn't it? ) Gov. Gen. rushes home to deal with political turmoil Nice try. What an arrogant f#@k! I've come to accept the presence of the BQ on the Canadian political landscape. I'd much rather have them participate in Parliament than marginalize their supporters (lest we forget the October Crisis). It's a paradox, of course, but I think the BQ actually helps national unity more than it hurts.
  14. Thanks for posting that. I'd also be interested in hearing from anyone who was there that night. It bugs me when that line is interpreted literally. It has nothing to do with ageing or death; it has everything to do w/ passion and integrity. And Neil has plenty of both.
  15. Hey, this is no time to be smug. Our American friends elected Obama and we're stuck with the creepy Conservatives and their douchebaggery. Seriously, WTF!!!
  16. I imagine this might be just the kind of challenge they would enjoy. It shouldn't be too hard for Wilco to win over Neil Young fans, though. I would have loved to be there. Halifax is one of my favourite places on the planet. Great city. Great people.
  17. I think there are a few Maritimers on VC. I *heart* Halifax!
  18. I bought this as a Christmas gift for my sister-in-law (who is a high school guidance counsellor), but it's so funny, I might have to buy my own copy. I'm a fan of the teen angst blog, too.
