  1. I think this hasn't been posted yet...I've done a quick search and nothing came up. I'm not quite the VC member that I once was so I don't understand the new "link posting policy" (I barely know anyone on here anymore!) but I thought all of you might be interested in listening to an audio-only interview from Tweedy at Bonnaroo on Bordersmedia.com. I received the link as part of my almost-daily Borders email. Jeff offers some insight on W(TA)'s title being inspired by Joe the Plumber. He explains the recording timeline for the new album and enjoying being away the Loft and Chicago winters.
  2. I'm in the same position...email came Monday and no record yet. The tracking thing is odd, giving me no info about when to expect it.
  3. Ha! I thought the same thing. I always thought Conan looked tall next to the guys, but, this time, he seemed especially ginormous!
  4. The guys really looked like they were having fun...so nice to see a band on one of these shows not phoning it in! Loved the Nudie suits too...is that a new one for Jeff?
  5. I said the same thing...for me, one of the first losses of a musical hero from MY generation. A sad day, indeed...
  6. The musical universe has lost a great one. We'll miss you, Jay.
  7. I would like to know the truth, but I think I have to stop following the "clues"...I'm feeling really sick right now.
  8. This is the thing that makes me the most concerned.
  9. I am hoping this isn't true. Either way, I hope Jay knows that Wilco fans still value what he added to the band.
  10. they've been calling the "i was on my way home" one "sunny feeling" around this site, i think. the first and third you mentioned are the bridge school ones. "one wing" is not any of the ones you mentioned, from what i can tell. hope this helps!
  11. i honestly really like the song and listen to it often.
  12. If I recall correctly, it came out right after "Joe the Plumber" arrived on the political scene, so I thought it was mocking the whole _________ the ___________ trend the Republican party was using. As far as "One Wing", it really got me excited for the newest (and ever-inevitable) Wilco reinvention. It's definitely my favorite of the new lot of songs.
  13. I think your blog is great! Still, I keep getting a "link expired" message. HELP!!!
  14. can someone repost the new wilco tracks from the earlier post ("you and i" and the other two after it)? the yousendit has expired. thanks!
  15. the apples in stereo did a similar thing on colbert, and they released it later on a compilation or as a yep roc extra...can't remember which. that gives me hope that it might show up somewhere else. unless, of course, that is a new song they adapted for the occasion and will rework for the new album. regardless, i love it!
  16. thanks...can't wait to get home and hear this! the "wilco...wilco...wilco will love you, baby!" chorus has been going through my head all night and all this morning.
  17. ok...that made my week! loved the "ha" on mike's keyboard with the rest of the letters blocked out. i may have missed that before, but it made me laugh.
  18. thanks so much for posting this! i was at this rally with my good friend and wilco die-hard chris, who drove in from grand rapids to see our favorite band and our presidential hopeful together. just a recap if you were not there or cared: jeff joked that the band that evening was called "Ilc", referring to the fact that it was only part of wilco. i thought that was hilarious, and chris and i have been calling that incarnation Ilc ever since. i would be voting for obama in this campaign even if wilco or jeff alone wasn't endorsing him. i'd like to think that most people that like both o
  19. that's the same song ("you and i"?) that tweedy/sansone/kotche played at the obama rally at park west in chicago in july. lovely song... thanks for sharing...made my night!
  20. i'm 19 minutes early, but just wanted to wish you all the best on your birthday, jeff! chicago misses you! (incredibly, btw, you were mentioned in the red eye last week as having a birthday soon and being a virgo...they used you as an example in some random, weirdly-placed horoscope listing.)
