  1. so much fun hanging out with you and everyone else this weekend! rick, i hope you've recovered from your "scare" last night. i honestly had more fun last night than at any of the riv shows in february. then again, i wasn't coughing up a lung this time, so that might have something to do with it. oh, and i have to say thanks to the band for your energy and for the time you gave to your fans after the show last night. enjoy your break...we look forward to seeing you and hearing some new material(!) in the coming months.
  2. they are probably the best wilco show posters i have ever seen! (oh, and tell jenny and her mom congrats from me!)
  3. i am not sure of the format thus far, so i will just "verbally" add one, and someone can put it up. if i missed it, and it is already there, sorry. it's one of my fave wilco/tweedy-related tracks, for sure. tweedy solo; sang backup vocal on "words (big mouth)" by ian hunter; from the album shrunken heads; 2007 people should check this one out; i didn't think i'd like it, but i listen to it quite often!
  4. you have to download the whole album? if i am going to pay full price for the album, i want something physical for my cd collection. btw, i think the song sounds pretty dang cool, but i can see that it would not have fit on SBS very well.
  5. man, that's really cool. i wish i could have seen jody play with jeff and the boys.
  6. thanks for all of the well-wishes, friends. i had a great two-day celebration, starting with one of my favorite wilco shows of all time! so many of you mean so much to me...it may have started with a great band, but i have made some friendships here that truly are some of the best i've ever known. oh, and wilco, thanks for the awesome birthday present. the venue, music, and night were nothing short of perfection!
  7. they are planning on keeping the format. this was in a wilco email i received last week: Beginning with the Chicago show next week, we're testing a way we'd like to utilize the site (and you) in a new way.... you can now vote for songs that the band will play that night by using this form. (i think you can get to it on wilcoworld.) We'll tabulate the results and the band will definitely utilize them when drafting the set list. So cast your vote today.
  8. i happen to know that it was taped. wait a week or so, and you should get your wish!
  9. i have always had an inexplicable love for fred savage. now i know why.
  10. happiest of b-days to you, paul. thanks for constantly being our eyes and ears when we can't make it to a show in person!
  11. me neither. i don't know what the hell it is supposed to mean. i didn't buy it in indy because i thought it said "WILLCO" (my vision sucks lately) and didn't want people to think that someone who claims wilco as their favorite band can't even spell their name correctly. i thought the shirt was cute otherwise with the cartoon portraits of the band, and i intended on buying it until the spelling debacle. if anyone can explain the shirt, i'd sure appreciate it. does it have to do with that damn Wii system or something because i know nothing about video games. i stopped playing when i put a
  12. i'm sad that chandler and i got shut out on tickets, but i am really glad that you and alison had the chance to go and see what sounds like a great show opinion question: what is the largest venue you think he is capable of selling out in chicago? i would kill to see him at a schuba's or abbey, but i'm guessing he could easily fill the riv or the congress. (though i'm not sure of the size of the congress, i know the shins played there this spring, so i'm going by that.) i know he filled the HOB this past fall, but that's only about 1000 capacity. last summer, he played the vogue in ind
  13. i LOVE "hey there, mrs. lovely" lyrically, except for two lines: "we probably should have scrapped the game and gave ourselves some hugs" and "wanna dry your eyes with cinnamon and pears" i hope there's some inside meaning there that we don't get...otherwise, it sounds like filler lyrics that just never were replaced. still, love that song and love what i have heard of the new one too on his myspace page.
  14. seriously, man. those pics are wilcoworld worthy. nice job. wilcoworld worthy...that's a tongue twister, isn't it!?
  15. yup. i have it ready to give back to you whenever. it was ok, but nothing earth-shattering. i think that's what you said about it when you gave it to me, come to think of it.
  16. jim derogatis compiled a book like this a while back, though some might argue that non-musicians don't really have the same case that musicians have. personally, i can't play an instrument or write music, but i'd like to think that, due to my constant listening and reading about it, i'm pretty knowledgeable. anyway, here's a link to the book, kill your idols, on amazon.com: here's the link, ya'll
  17. i know. having a memory recorded to be enjoyed over and over is awesome. i'm just engaged to a taper and know how much work it takes to get one of those shows out to the public.
  18. agreeing with this seems worthy of my 1,000th post! i might feel differently about this if i liked the music of the people making the comments. also, in that "review of 'pet sounds', is it just me or is the guy saying something is crappy and then basically talking about many of the merits of the album? that seems stupid to me. as an english teacher, i told my kids when writing persuasively they should take a side and run with it and not be a fence-rider. i guess this dude gets an "F" from me for fence-riding and for trashing my favorite album of all time.
  19. dude, you've got to give the tapers time...at least a week. they do a great service for us, so just be patient and something will show up soon.
  20. we can all hope...the embassy acoustics are much better than the murat. plus, it would be fantastic to see the grassroots effort come to fruition and to see wilco in my hometown!
  21. johnny, it does sorta sound like that, and i have been guilty of similar. the first few times i heard "outtasite", i thought jeff said, "i will be denied...alright." good thing we didn't get tattoos then, huh? speaking of being mistaken, i still don't get the cartoon wilco shirts i saw friday with "willco" printed on the front. i'm seriously curious what the deal is on that.
  22. seconded. they are great live! i saw them at an outdoor festival in memphis a few months back and was seriously impressed.
