  1. that's what i was thinking! i was sure that there would be some news.
  2. i didn't know that steve winwood was going to be playing with them! even for just a song or two, that's awesome!
  3. i read this this morning in the redeye, the free chicago daily paper: "more than 30,000 chicago public school students are expected to pack soldier field from 10 a.m. to noon tuesday to rally for more state funding and anti-violence programs. students will be bussed downtown for the "shout-out for schools" rally. school officials, mayor daley, and performers- including wilco front man jeff tweedy, kid sister, UNI, and rich kiddz- are expected to appear."
  4. i know i said so elsewhere, but happy 21st, rosie!
  5. i know i said i wasn't going to comment anymore, but this is very well put and something i think we all can agree on.
  6. thank you so much for putting this up!
  7. neither am i, and i only like a few songs on that record, but she is a doll, i have to say. i still love her in almost famous and think she carries off that girl group sound quite well.
  8. you obviously didn't grow up in a music market like the one i did in fort wayne, not a small town by any means. (at 225,000 in the metro area, i'm assuming we are/were considered a secondary market) i had no choice but oldies, classic rock, country, talk, or top 40 until 1995, when i was a senior in high school. my attachment to oldies and classic rock to this day definitely is a result of this, which is cool, but i barely knew who stone temple pilots and nirvana were until '95. (and, so you know, i didn't have cable until about 1994 either, and mtv was already pretty much a waste already,
  9. i have a turntable component that is part of my stereo system. it has great sound. i have a crosley that my dad bought me for christmas a few years ago. it is portable...fun to put on the floor next to me so that i can change 45s quickly. sure, the sound isn't as great, but many of my records are old and scratchy anyway, and that's the way i like them. the needle has held up surprisingly well too, if that matters to you. if you want quality sound and have decent vinyl, then CT is probably right. just saying. carry on...
  10. i don't know. i'm pretty rowdy at shows and still don't get my drink on. edit: i can't believe i'm still posting on this thread. i'm think i'm done.
  11. you would think SOMEONE here would have stumbled upon it and reported back if it had happened. also, delaware seems like the wrong part of the country for the band to be in, seeing that the concert dates around that time were in kansas, texas, new mexico, colorado, and missouri. btw, i used to listen to WXPN a lot during my lunch and prep period at work. they play some great music you don't hear a lot on the radio.
  12. nothing wrong with having a good time as long as it doesn't infringe on the good times being had by others. (including the musicians, might i add!)
  13. ok...i like jeff even more now that i know he digs the stax! that music is my bread and butter...not a day goes by when i don't listen to at least some stax music.
  14. edie, i couldn't have said it better myself.
  15. seriously. i feel like whatever positive legacy the clintons had is diminishing by the day.
  16. i feel for you...lit theory was the hardest class i took in college. i don't think i've ever used what i've learned in that class since taking it almost ten years ago.
  17. we had a blast with you! you can be our blocker boys any time! i love your jeff story too. isn't he the coolest? i didn't put two and two together that you (who we hung with in line) and oceanman are one and the same person. it was great meeting you!
  18. thanks for helping me relive the joy all over again!
  19. the shows were fantastic...the band was on, and the setlists were perfect. there's nothing like closing out a tour with lots of great, high-energy songs to leave your fans hungry for more! i will DEFINITELY be back the next time they are in SL. it's a great town, a nice venue (though less smoke would be nice), and a great setting to see wilco play. (and this is coming from a chicagoan who is spoiled by shows like the residency!)
  20. dude, i saw that about bon iver and was really excited for you! cathy, no thanks from me for that stupid joke. (just kidding, sweetie!) rob, you seriously need to retire that one!
  21. lovin' the pics, girl. please share anything you have. we have no shame! we missed you too, edie! indy????!!!!
