  1. One I have seen listed: Han Bennink - great to listened to - even better to see him perform.
  2. And arranging the strings for the Stones' She's A Rainbow (#25 in the states)
  3. But is Ted really a "musician"? (I kid, I kid - God love em)
  4. There is Gimme Shelter. I have seen them on every tour since 89, with the exception of the Bigger Bang tour. It's a spectacle more than a concert - but it's fun. Since they play in large stadiums/arenas - the sound is not always that greates . The closest I ever was to the stage was about 20 rows/center in 89 - the other times it seemed liked they were miles away. I read they were going out again - I guess it depends on the costs if I see them again - I thought they sounded okay in the December pay-per-view. That being all said - I listened to their studio a lot more than their live stuf
  5. I love Ya-ya's but I prefer the studio Sympathy, also. uncool2pillow - have you listened to Stripped? I think they sound great on it, esp. Jagger - I guess parts of it are pretty much "live in the studio". The Stones definitely can sound like a mess on stage at times, but when they are on they're great. I think the official live 78 Texas release is great.
  6. Drovers use to play down in Carbondale in the early 90s quite a bit - always a fun show.
  7. I read that the Duane Allman box set has already sold out - that's good I guess - I think they made 10,000 copies.
  8. That's good to hear that they are going rebroadcast it - I wonder if Weir is planning to release any of these shows commercially - it would make sense.
  9. They actual have The Final Frontier, too -- I decided to start with the greatest hits, first.
  10. I didn't catch the bit about a Pigpen cd coming out - perhaps he was talking about Dave's Pick Vol. 6 - a 1970 show, with PIgpen.
  11. I saw bits and pieces - the parts of the discussion I saw was pretty fun - David Lemieux looked like a fish out of water (at least little) while sitting with Weir, Lesh, and Parish, but with all the history those three share, I guess it's understandable. It was kinda cool listening to the Janis and Pigpen stories.
  12. That's a shame - MS is brutal. I just checked out the below from my library and I have been listening to in the car this week - my last Maiden tape I bought was Seventh Son - so I was not familiar with anything post 88. It's been fun blasting it on the car radio, though I enjoy their earlier stuff the best. Killers is probably my favorite. Also read that Iron Maiden is going to put out their own beer, soon.
  13. I requested for a three day pass for the Chicago dates - they are playing Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island, great place for a show. Pretty small, too. I am sure it will be a tough ticket.
  14. I think I liked the Rocky themed one better from last year - but this was pretty good.
  15. I should be able to get to listen to the live set, Artifacts - tonight or tomorrow --- for some dorky reason I am waiting for Honky Tonk, so I can listened to them back to back. A-Man - nice fine on the DP 4, I think it may be favorite. And Lou - I am officially living the "american dream" (not really) and moved to the burbs (Flossmoor) -- I haven't found any good record stores in the area. Best Buy's are my best bet --- the dumb thing, is that Best Buy website states that two of the nearest stores to me have copies of Honky Tonk, but when I went to the actual stores, the cd was no where
  16. http://downloads.fastatmosphere.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=FASTATMOSPHERE&Category_Code=JF03 I found it on the www.jayfarrar.net/news site - not the Son Volt site.
  17. I purchased the below from Jay's website last night - haven't listened to it though. Looking forward to it - I don't think I have any live Son Volt with the original line up. Waiting for my copy of Honkey Tonk to come via Amazon - none of my local stores are stocking it - the bastards.
  18. Listened to 7/2 today - really nice. Looking forward to 7/3 - thanks for the heads-up.
  19. How was the show with Wylde? I never had the opportunity to listen to it.
  20. I never realized that Nelson band played with Phil, either - also didn't know Kreutzmann ever played with Phil's solo band. I couldn't find a seeding torrant of 7/2/99 or 7/3/99, but they both are up at Archive.
  21. I imagine those tickets were not cheap, either - excessive talkers never cease to amaze me.
  22. Lou - the link to the stream of the album that A-man posted is still going. http://www.americansongwriter.com/2013/02/stream-son-volts-new-album-honky-tonk/
  23. That's what I was thinking, too. Hopefully it won't be only a $100 record only release of sorts.
  24. NIce Ratso interview from the Well http://www.well.com/conf/inkwell.vue/topics/173/Larry-Ratso-Sloman-On-the-Road-w-page01.html
