  1. Honestly, I take pretty much anything Jules says as condescending - it his M.O. I didn't take it as be condescending against employees, but to the President, while others may have thought it was towards employees. But like I wrote in my first post regarding his hiring comment - it's a good thing, whether they be temporary positions or permanent. We hired two guys this week - unfortunately they probably will be temporary - but it's a start. I am in the trades (HVAC). I don't expect a visit from the President, though.
  2. http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/music/turnitup/ct-ae-0617-billy-corgan-20120615,0,3227226,full.column Nice interview with Greg Kot.
  3. Jules said the above - I believe it was taken by some as being condescending. Actually Jules should contact his congressman and he just might get that visit - though I have a feeling his business is not in a Democratic district - so the district may not want to advertise the 100 hires ----- I could be completely wrong about that though - my point is, if you want the President to notice - write your Congressman. Jules standing next to the President would be a great picture.
  4. Even though he is a commie pinko, LouieB is a great person to share a concert experience with - wouldn't have met him, if it wasn't for this board. Him liking jazz is a great plus, too.
  5. http://www.cbs.com/l...fault&play=true From yesterday on Late Night with Letterman. Good stuff - I enjoy Elizabeth Cook's radio show, as well as her music - she sounds cool on her radio show and looks hot as hell.
  6. Well Rogers just played Bonnaroo - or at least he sat in with Phish and performed The Gambler - so a bunch of stinky hippies may start showing up at his shows.
  7. That's cool - I didn't know that. Does he talk about what he was doing between 71-75 and how he supported himself, ie was he on the Dead payroll still ---- I guess I should read the book...
  8. He has a few books out about drums and percussion instruments - I don't think he ever put out an straight forward auto-bio, though. I haven't read any of them.
  9. I don't know crap about dyslexia, but perhaps Weir still is hindered from it a bit, thus writing a book may be a bit of challenge. Plus, he always forgets the words of songs, can't imagine him dealing with a book . (but of course you're right, eventually he will probably put one out)
  10. http://music.yahoo.c...-140934928.html Just came across this bit of news - hopefully it is better than Phil's. Billy always seemed to bit of a brute, especially in his younger days - could translate into a good book. Now watching View from the Vault II June 14, 1991 - nice show (plus it put my kids to sleep after the first song - which makes for a very peaceful afternoon)
  11. He was a messed up dude - his appearances on Stern were always a mess.
  12. Of course we all know you met here Full disclosure: I pledged a $100 to Obama camp today - been getting calls for the last couple months and finally bit the bullet. I donated a bit and volunteered in '08 - must admit my enthusiasm has waned, now it's more to keep Romney out of the office. I suppose I can say I have been disappointed with Obama, though it is impossible to govern when there is no compromising going on (though I think there has been more of it from Obama - perhaps too much, but then absolutely nothing would have happen.) Hopefully in his 2nd term the Congress and the Pr
  13. Not sure why Jules would lie about it - he proves Obama policies are working and that Obama is the best job creator since Jules' last favorite President - Clinton. Another vote for Obama in November - way to go Jules ---- seriously, though, it's great that the 100 were hired.
  14. How did you like the Tinley venue - I haven't been there since the late 90s. I heard they did some renovations to improve the sound - I am curious to know if the sound has indeed improved - thanks.
  15. Thanks for the heads up, Lou - didn't realize she is playing the Hideout - that Sunday early show looks like it might work for the wife and me.... Still need to pick up her latest record.
  16. For kicks I tried getting tickets for his Chicago show - tried for general admission/floor tickets and got lucky with 2. With fees it came out to $87 each - that's not too bad. They only time I saw Neil and Crazy Horse was at a HORDE Fest in 1997 at the Tinley Park World Music Theater - a horrible, horrible storm blew through as they were playing - the PA system lost power and all you could hear was the stage amps for a time. We were under the pavilion and sheets of rain blew right through as water was pouring in on the floor. We were standing in about a foot of water. It was my most surrea

  18. I think I may be the only one - but I don't "hear" much Dead on the CRB record - maybe a bit of Wake of the Flood era, but that's it. Sure the songs are a bit long, but I wouldn't equate that with the Dead. I do enjoy it quite a bit, though. I think I like Rich's better, though - better songs, plus I can listen to him play guitar all day and I think it's produced a lot better than CRB. He is no Chris, but I think Rich's voice is decent enough. Wish I would have caught his Chicago gig. I do have a tape of the show - need to listen it.
  19. That's what I get for buying it at Best Buy - though I don't think CRB is hip enough for my local store to carry. What is on the bonus cd?
  20. I listened to both at work (on a boom box) - both sounded good, not sure if like one better than the other, yet. I did enjoy the tone of Rich's guitar, especially on the last two songs. Definitely need to listen to them again on the home system. The packaging on Chris cd leaves a lot to be desired - a card board sleeve and a disc. I guess the artwork looks cool. Usually I don't bitch about such things, but for some reason it bugged me.
  21. True - but the Chicago show is15 minutes from me. That Sioux Falls gig would have been a no brainer for my wife and I a couple of years ago - damn kids... Just picked up Chris' new one and finally Rich's over lunch - listening to Rich's now.
  22. http://theaudioperv.com/2012/06/06/chris-robinson-brotherhood-rosalee-65-leno/ Chris' band was on Leno last night - decent tune. The band will be playing a weekend street fair here in Chicago in a couple of weeks - $10 - can't beat it. Actually the last time I went the Taste of Randolph Street was to see Son Volt. Probably will buy the new record - I don't have any of his other solo stuff.
  23. Just watched their 5/26/12 Pinkpop Festival show - Reeves Gabrels is in the band now - definitely gives them a great kick. Roger is still playing with them, too - which is good. The drummer is still way too static and "perfect", though.
  24. That's cool. He did say Spain had the best audience at yesterday's gig. Nice gesture by the band.
