  1. I am kinda curious if any of the "older" Heads ever met Dick Latava - I am not sure if he made it out to many shows. I never met him, but I haven't seen nearly the amount of shows that some on this board had. He definitely seemed like an interesting guy. He did seem under-appreciated, but I think that goes with the mentality of the Dead and their organization, from what I have read over the years.
  2. Listening to 4/17/71 tonight - nice long write up in the Taper's book. I haven't listened to it for awhile - good show. I am listening to the below source. http://archive.org/details/gd1971-04-17.sbd.sirmick.88760.flac16
  3. Not all Repubilicans agree, but it is the Party's platform, I think that is what KevinG is referring to...Not all Democrats agree with Obama, either, by the way.
  4. I always forget that Cline is on some of the tracks. Still haven't gotten around to see the movie, yet.
  5. suites seems to has a lot of animosity towards particular names of bands and band members - which is cool (to each their own) - but at the end of the day who the hell cares, as longs as the music is good. Long Live Rock!
  6. Since I live in a 5th floor loft space, I have a plot at my mom and dad's place. Didn't plant a garden last year, but this year I look forward to planting some tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and various herbs. I should have gotten the spinach and broccoli in already, but didn't get to it, so I might pass on those this year. Should be fun this year - my 2 1/2 year old loves vegetables and dirt.
  7. From a Chicago Sun-Times article - that's pretty cool.
  8. I am pleasantly surprised and happy with the White Sox, thus far, of course they have a loosing record. Need the bullpen to start clicking (They definitely have blew some games). The starting pitching and hitting (Dunn, AJ, Paulie) are starting off great. Dunn's game winning homer against the Tigers this past Saturday was a shot. Plus it helps that the rest of the AL Central are not playing too well.
  9. Do most signature guitars have the name (Tweedy, for instance) on the headstock - it seems a bit cheesy? It is a great looking guitar. I just think I would want any signature/name on the back.
  10. That was from their Cabin Fever DVD release which was filmed at Levon Helm's barn. It is a great version - the whole DVD is great.
  11. Jazz fans mark your calenders. August 30th - September 2nd - Chicago Jazz Festival http://pix724.blogspot.com/2012/04/chicago-jazz-festival-announces-artist.html from Ken's twitter feed:
  12. I am hoping they release So Far separately at some point - which I am sure they will. I don' think I ever have seen Backstage pass, either. It is a nice price for them all.
  13. I wonder if Jerry's Nash guitar is going to be there?
  14. Yeah - looks like they have a crap load of gear there.
  15. http://www.wkyc.com/news/photo-gallery.aspx?storyid=240572 Pics from the Hall of Fame exhibit. Definitely going to try to make a family vacation out of it. Looks like they have some great stuff.
  16. No idea what Instagram is, but that is a great shot.
  17. Never listened to it - should try it sometime. I do consider myself a Lou Reed fan.
  18. Since I mentioned Neil Steinberg earlier in the thread - I might as well post a link to his column from today. He sat down with Dick Durbin (IL U.S. Senator) It's Durbin's take on the Tea Party, Occupy Movement, and Democrat/Republican relations. http://www.suntimes.com/news/steinberg/12067377-452/durbin-election-best-hope-for-reviving-government.html
