  1. "abortion" (the Stones bit in the New Yorker article is the only part I didn't enjoy - seemed out of place and forced - but who cares.)
  2. Regarding the TRI show, Justin Kreutzmann was on the XM Tales show this past weekend discussing the show - looking forward to. I am interested to hear what Bobby Keys has to say.
  3. http://www.politico....0212/72297.html Well that's because he more worried about the middle class.
  4. You can purchase the mp3 (or lossless) of the Geneva show - the performance includes Laminated Cat and an acoustic version of Spiders. Below is the Wilco site http://wilco.kungfustore.com/category/491-roadcase/product/3728-july-8-2012-geneva-il-wilr02 Download discusion is here: http://viachicago.org/topic/48136-wilco-officially-released-live-shows/
  5. I happen to be watching the 7/19/89 Alpine boot now. Agree with the West LA Fadeaway --- great, great version. That JGB 91 release is indeed great - never gotten around to see JGB back in the day, which is a shame.
  6. It is on the Red Rock and Geneva downloads, will that suffice?
  7. Perhaps this may be blasphemy, but I wish there could be a moratorium on any public performance of Hey Jude - Paul can still play it in any of his own concerts, if he wants. I thought the rest was okay. The lighting of the torch was pretty cool.
  8. Have you heard the new record, yet? I haven't gotten around to getting it.
  9. Regarding WCPT, not a big fan of Miller, Schultz is okay for about 5 minutes and Press and Hartmann are pretty good. I got burnt out on radio and TV political discourse right after President Obama was put in office - too much of the same thing over and over. I don't get MSNBC, so I do not watch Maddow too often, but when I do she seems fine.
  10. Those comments in the Vegan review are great. A very pleasant discussion.
  11. Below is the full quote taken in context. Of course, it's politics 101 to create ads out of quotes taken out of context....both sides do it. I am glad the President is pushing back, though. I am sure Romney will get his chance to push back on an ad about him. http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2012/07/13/remarks-president-campaign-event-roanoke-virginia
  12. That would be cool. I wonder how long they have been recording their own shows, though. Perhaps, all bands always record their own shows - I don't know.
  13. Well that's interesting - the price is decent enough. I will probably just stick with the AUD. recordings, though. I bet they won't change their taping policy, but perhaps their method of sharing might change. Hopefully they won't go by the way of the Allman Brothers.
  14. I thought John sounded and played okay - I only saw him once with DSO and that was in 98 or 99. I thought the DSO show was boring and left at set-break. But at the Furthur show I thought he played some inspiring stuff (esp. on Dew). I probably won't be seeing them again any time soon (this past week's show was my first Furthur show), but it was a fun night to hang out with some friends. Plus it was the first time since the Terrapin Station weekend at Alpine in 02, that I felt I was at a Grateful Dead show. The whole scene was pretty fun.
  15. Hot Tuna, great, great band - but I think that may be a whole new band, right? They both were done with the Airplane for the most part, when Hot Tuna was their main outlet. Though I could be way off there..,
  16. I thought you were going to say the below line made you sick, Tweedling.
  17. Saw Furthur a couple of nights ago here in Chicago. They played an outdoor pavilion on the lake (Charter One Pavilion) which suited the show greatly. The show itself was pretty good and entertaining. The background vox, though sometimes too high in the mix, were really good. The all around playing was tight, also. Glad I finally gotten around to see them. I thought it sounded better than the last time I saw The Dead play. John suits the band very nicely and Russo, through I not a huge fan of the sound of his drums, played great. I was a little bit disappointed in the Jeff C. piano/organ pl
  18. I always understood your points, bleedorange - I just don't agree. They covered this up to save the football program - the football program needs to take the hit for it. If someone in the theater department, creamery, or hell someone on the basketball or baseball staff, sexual abused kids - I don't think the university would had covered it up, at least I would hope they wouldn't have - who knows. The reason for the cover up was because it happen in the football program.
  19. Nothing wrong with the Stones....
  20. The album cover looks like its from 1985. Looking forward to it. The song titles look promising. Plan to see him in Ft. Wayne, IN in August.
  21. Again it isn't fair and suspending the program won't make things "better" for the victims, but perhaps a stiff penalty will make other institutions, who makes millions of dollars off their programs, think twice before covering stuff up. Am I am saying that they should be set up as an example - yes. I am not sure how it can't be a NCAA issue - Penn State is a part of the NCAA and the NCAA is the governing body of overall football league. They make the rules and enforce them. Of course it's a criminal and civil issue, but one of the NCAA most prestigious football programs was involved in a c
  22. That's what they do if a team is caught cheating, paying players, etc.... This goes way beyond that and the penalty should reflect that. Again, it isn't necessarily fair to the current players/students, I realize that, that's why the players scholarships should stay in place. It would suck that no football will be played there on Saturdays, but I think it would suck even more if the school can make even more money, through tickets, concessions, etc...
