I got the 68 in the mail today, planning to listen to it tomorrow. Got the 77 show a few days ago and listened to it once Wed. night. The 77 show does sound very nice, both production and playing wise. I never heard the 5.28.77 show before, so it was nice to hear it. I have a FLAC copy of the 2.14.68 show (a real great show), so I am looking forward to hear how they cleaned up the sound. It's gonna be nice Easter weekend listening to new Grateful Dead stuff. I guess to answer your question, I did get confirmation that both shows were being shipped. Once I got the confirmation of shipping

Hyde Park Records. http://hydeparkrecords.net/ (they do not update their site very often) I called Dr. Wax and they told me to call them back on Monday because he wasn't sure if they would be getting it or not.

I am bit bummed that the record store down here in Hyde Park will not have any copies of the Wilco DVD. They said they contacted Wilco and whoever else you contact to get the advance copies, but they did not get a response from Wilco or anyone. I don't see their name on the Record Store Day Venue link either, so perhaps they are just a bunch of slackers or are not participating. They are a TRUE independent store, I guess.

Going to Chicago....what to do, see, stay, etc.
calvino replied to LouieB's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I rather like good beer and lived in Chicago my entire life and I have never made to the Hopleaf, yet. One of these days. Since I lived a few blocks from the Map Room for a few years that has always been my go to place for a very decent beer selection. -
Here you go. I need to think a bit for my favorite. (Though I always liked Aoxomoxoa, too)

Bob, Neil etc......still relevant in 2009?
calvino replied to Wild Frank's topic in Someone Else's Song
I think both are relevant, today. They might not be in their "prime", but I don't think that really matters. Socially I think they both have something to say, whether it be through their music, causes, or interviews. Even Dylan admits he can't write songs they way he used to. Below is a segment from his 60 Minutes interview with the late great Ed Bradley. -

I read that Toby Keith wants to beat Hawke up (or at least Keith is pissed). The whole fiasco made Kristofferson issue a statement: http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/articl...D2r3bgD97D5FCG0 I did see BR549 open up for Dylan in 1997. Ani DiFranco was on the same bill. Great, great night of music.

I love Turth and Beck-Ola, but I kinda glad that group broke up. Wood, Stewart, and Beck all went on to create some great music. Don't think they could have created it together.

Looking forward to the XM live feeds. I always loved when Grateful Dead (esp. the New Year's) shows were broadcast on the radio.

Another one to add to this year's list...

It's nice that they are selling each show separately, also. I was hoping for a box set, but the price is a bit steep for me, though it would be great to have. I may just have to figure out a way to rationalize the purchase to my wife.

Below are the charges. I think Blagojevich is in for an uphill battle. I heard earlier that the fed's did not indict/freeze the funds in his campaign account, like they did in the Ryan case. I wonder why? That would of been the kicker. The Tribune has a nice, tough editorial. I agree with their sentiment. The voters (in both parties) need to step up, too.

Listening to the Roseland Theatre show from 3.30, now. Pretty good, but only up to Eyes. Jeff Chimenti sounds especially good. It's up on bt etree.

Love the packaging. And it will be great to finally see the Dead footage.

Over at Expectingrain board, the reviews have not been that great, esp. New Morning. (though over there they all seem to love to complain about everything in extreme detail). I am going to pick up New Morning, since I never owned a proper copy of it and have not listened to it in years. The others I have already and happy with them.

Got it.

I did not know this. I did not realize Natalie Maines came from a musical family. Of course it makes sense, now.

Did not realize that was out already. Great, a trip to the record store today is in store. Always love Earle's Fitzpatrick's album covers.

American Songwriting magazine started their top 30 Dylan songs. Interesting choice of song for their number 30. From: http://www.americansongwriter.com/2009/03/...-dear-landlord/

This is kinda of interesting. I only have been going to the Hideout since they been putting on jazz shows on Wednesdays so I do not know him as well as some might on this site. Sounds like a great opportunity. I wonder if he will emcee Pitchfork Fest this year, though I guess some might be happy if he doesn't. From Greg Kot's Blog:
