  1. Ford was on Fresh Air last week or so, nice interview - reading "Independence Day" now --- I read the Sportswriter a long while ago. I have the 3rd book on my bookshelf.
  2. I will probably ending up getting it (Gans/Jackson book) too -- these days I tend to check it out first and if I like it and think I will refer to it, often, I end up buying it. My library is a three minute walk from my house, so if my actual library has it in the stacks, it's usually readily available. Plus it's always a nice excuse to get out the house when the family is getting on each other nerves -- i can make it to the library and grab a pint at the pub and be back home in about 25 minutes...not that it happens often (the pub part). I never gotten around buying Playing in the Band,
  3. I have the Jackson/Gans book on reserve at my library -- looking forward to it. Gans was talking about the book on this past Tales show (XM Radio) -- it has been getting great reviews from various journals -- which made him happy, because it probably will lead to library systems picking it up. Hopefully my library system will pick up the new Garcia book, too. (Just checked at least one library in my system will be getting the Garcia book)
  4. DylanRadio.com has been playing some tracks off the 18 disc version -- just heard a pretty cool Queen Jane. Queen Jane Approximately (take 2, 8/02/1965, complete)
  5. That's cool --- probably will miss the web-stream tonight -- hopefully someone will capture it and put it out via torrent --- if it will be allowed.
  6. Winston should be getting some type of commission from dead.net or least $10 off a 2016 subscription.
  7. It seems to be moving very slowly east - I'm ever so slightly east of Winston and you are just to the east of us - so tomorrow should be your day - enjoy!
  8. Yep and yes it was in today's mail. Looking forward to it.
  9. Yeah - it was in the new book section -- I happen to be browsing and came upon it - didn't realize it was out. Kinda surprised that Black Sparrow Press isn't the publisher. And I did watch that doc a couple of weeks ago - it's a good one. Also, I wouldn't call it a autobiographical book - the editor went through Buk's letters and took out the bits where he talks about poetry and writing in general. I only up to about 1961, so I haven't gotten too far.
  10. Speaking of Bukowski - checked this out from the library and now reading.
  11. This is the time of year when I find out if my in-laws still like me --- for the past 3 years they bought be a subscription for Christmas.
  12. Can you cover the plant - at least during the night time?
  13. Head north to Head north to Minneapolis or south to St. Louis. Been listening the the six night 84' October/November Berkley run over the last past couple of days - good shows thus far. First shows with an official taper section, at least so I read.
  14. That's what I figured --- while watching the 5th episode or so, the wife and I were saying 'man there is a lot of murder in this county in Wyoming' (I realize it's fiction) and about few minutes later the sheriff said aloud to himself, "what the hell is happening to my county" - which made us both laugh.
  15. How the books broken down --- is there just a bunch of crimes in one book and he (they) go about solving them or is there just one crime in a book.
  16. We started watching this a bit ago - up to episode 7 or so (1st season) --- pretty good, do like the setting and the story lines are entertaining. The female officer kinda of bugs me, though.
  17. She has become common ground between my 6 year old and my wife and I during road trips --- the Avant Gardner video hooked him.
  18. According to dead.net the comp. is going to be the below:
  19. Just read the C.K. Williams died last month. Saw him do couple of readings, once in the early 90s while in school and more recently around 2008. Both times I was able to speak with him - great man and poet.
  20. I only shows in the Chicago area during their last 5 years - I never saw any Chicago police officer use any unnecessary force or give anyone any issues. They mostly rode their horses through the lots. Even at the recent Fare Thee Well Shows - the police were about, but I didn't see any issues and it was pretty much a free for all. Perhaps I was just lucky or wasn't around the problems. I do remember one year we had to drive around the Soldier Field lots on Lake Shore Drive waiting for it to open - they opened at 10am which was always cool - and I really had to use the bath room --- seei
  21. Last night's 'Dark Knight' exchange between Reynolds and Verducci was pretty cool -- I didn't realize that Verducci came up with the nickname for Harvey - and that story that Reynolds shared (him asking Harvey during batting practice prior to the last night's game ) was pretty cool 'behind the scene - on the field pregame info. The whole Harvey looking around the field and so he can point to Verducci. Of course I think Reynolds should have known that the person he shares the booth with came up with a cool nickname for pitcher.
