I think that's a prerequisite on getting into the Hall -- if people are sick of their tunes - they are a shoo-in.

That's not a bad group of inductees. Every now and then I throw on Deep Purple box set on shuffle and listen to it on Sunday mornings in my kitchen while I read the paper and drink coffee - until my wife gets up and makes me turn it off. Yesterday on XM, I heard a reworked version by Miller of Fly Like an Eagle - wasnt a big fan of it. His greatest hits tape was pretty much the soundtrack to my high school party experience - it was played at every one.

When I was a kid, I had a pair of cut-offs that the bottom of the front pockets hung out past the front of cut-off jeans --- Weir would have loved em.
-
Maybe if the Dead & Co tour in the summer, Mayer can bring back the Weir short shorts look...

Regarding the Dylan doc -- Dylan's own manager was the one giving the interview (and coming up with the questions). So in essence, Dylan and his own people came up with the narrative.

With sandals on. Regarding Mickey's ranch -- that has been one of the coolers things in the last couple of new Dead books - the descriptions and tales from the various ranch's that the various band members lived on during the 60's and early part of 70's. Lot's of new 1st hand accounts. I guess during the early 70's, Mickey's ranch wasn't the best place to be - due to the drug scene and the people hanging out there.

That's why Rand Paul hasn't gotten any traction.
-
Yeah -- but the article it dated May, 2015 -- the Weir doc was already shot and in the can at that point. But I bet Weir is seats under oak trees all the time.

Yeah, you are right - I must have mis-heard. "No plans for Scorsese to film Grateful Dead documentary in Chicago" http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/music/chi-grateful-dead-scorsese-doc-column.html Below is a link that I just came across regarding the movie -- it's nice that Justin Kreutzmann is involved, too - I didn' know that or forgot. http://michaelshapiro.net/grateful-dead-documentary-north-bay-has-starring-role/

I think they wanted to shoot some footage of the 50th Anv. shows in case they wanted it for the doc.

From the panel, Rand Paul always comes across the most sane person --- which is super scary. Christie seemed a bit unhinged to me, especially about the whole Russian no fly zone stuff. Everybody, with exception of Paul, stated that they wanted to increase and update the military - but I don't recall anybody talking about how to pay for it -- must admit I stopped watching. It would be interesting to have Sanders win and then he appoints Paul as Sect. of Defense --- I'd keep him out of domestic stuff, but I wouldn't mind him dealing with foreign relations with regard to war, not the humanitari

That is weird -- especially one based on Parish's book. Guess it be could worse - it could be based on Rock Scully's book. Both books seem to be most tabloid-like books on the Dead -- -which I guess would make the best 'dumb entertainment' type of movie. A great documentary on the Dead gear would be nice. Parish is pretty good in front of the camera though. I wonder if it is going to be shot like a documentary or one of 'music-bio movies' where actors are playing the musicians?

I didn't follow any of the 90 reunion stuff too close --- only recently did I realize that Porl Thompson was part of their band -- guess Plant was listening to the Cure a lot prior to the tour. Interesting choice, though I am a Cure fan. The below Song Remains the Same is pretty decent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBAewzK4EC8

NoJ - Hopefully all ends well and your friend (and everyone else involved) comes out the other end OK.
-
Did you ever read the book?
-
Just finished watching Season One of The Man in the High Castle on Amazon - we thought it was really good -- it was interesting watching the series with the whole Trump rhetoric going on. Hopefully there will be a Season Two. All the actors were pretty good. Shot nicely, too. Never read the book, so can't compare it.
-
Yeah -- now that I think about, I did read the below when it came out. The whole driver story was indeed a sad one.

I always thought it was cool that the Who recorded the Stones tunes for those reasons -- esp. since at the time the British police was enjoying busting rock stars or at least busting the Stones. Definitely could have brought on unwanted attention to them by the police. I don't think they ever gotten busted (at least during the 60s). Could be wrong though - I haven't read a Who book in a long while.
-
Spotify has the remaster --- haven't heard their version in of Under My Thumb in a while --- forgot how much I enjoyed Moon's drumming on it -- the back ground vox., not so much, the ooo's and such doesn't fit the song. Though it is Who like, so I guess it works.
-
Just put it on hold -- should be the remaster too. Is there any back story to the cover - looks like Entwistle put the comp. together - wonder if was a big American football fan?
-
Somehow I never gotten around to listening to the Young Vic show, until tonight --- enjoy Time is Passing, never heard this one before. Not familiar with Odds and Sods or Pete's first solo record, though I remember always seeing Odds and Sods in the stacks when I was younger. Always thought it was great record cover. Cheesy as all hell, but great. Especially since they are English.

Speaking of 73 - now listening to the 9/7/73 Eyes - off the bonus cuts from the Wake of the Flood release --- doesn't get much better. Jerry just kills on this, also enjoy Keith's electronic piano.
-
I thought I read that Tweedy is done going to Grammy ceremonies -- could be way off, though. It is nice that they got nominated.

Yeah - and at the end of the day the DSO's members are fans/deadheads. Throughout the book they interview other deadheads to get their perspective -- not only the DSO folks. I am up to about 91 ---- great book, thus far.
